  The Best Sales Movie Around
Review created: 03/11/08
by:

Every sales professional should at least have a copy. The story covers so many angles and aspects sales people could relate to.

Unforgettable all star cast with an overwhelming amount of talent in one movie. To name a couple, you have Al Pacino, the big shot sales guy who gets the hot [Glengarry] leads then you have the washed out sales person Jack Lemmon, at the bottom who always complain. Each actor played their part perfectly.

There are a few slow points in the movie but at the same time, there are incredibly hilarious parts in the movie with great lines you can never forget.

Great movie. High quality Dvd. Excellent character study. An example of real life struggle to survive in the field of sales with little or no support. Top name actors all give excellent performances. Alec Baldwin is stellar in his 5 minute cameo. Pacino ? Hey do I even have to say anything ? Pacino is a master. Alan Arkin ? Great. Jacl Lemmon absolutely kills in his role. Kevein Spacey Phenominal. The guy who plays "Moss" can't recall his name but a great great job as well.

A brilliant play-set-to-film. Great performances from the all STAR cast.

Set in a crooked real-estate "Boiler Room" it quickly becomes a pressure cooker,
where the audience sympathizes with the crooks. If you love action-adventure films or gratuitous sex, leave this one for the thinking audience. One of my favorite films.

Movie that really portrays the pressure in a sales career. I also liked each charactor's selling style and how the deadline that they are given directly affects their choices as the movie unfolds.

Glengarry Glen Ross ~ Excellent Character Study
Review created: 07/10/03
by: drdevience -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Outstanding cast

Cons:
nothing

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I picked this up, but what I got wasn't even close. This is not a bad thing. Glengarry Glenn Ross is a character study type of movie. It's about a real estate sales office and the trials and tribulations which accompany any lead-driven sales job. They are trying to sell condos/apartments in blocks, tracts of land, that sort of thing. Their leads are generated by folks filling out cards for more info on property investments. You know the cards, you see them everywhere. The problem is, most of the leads they're being given are really old. They've talked to.

Who Stole the Kishka?: Glengarry Glen Ross
Review created: 09/18/03
by: George_Chabot-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Movies

Pros:
Acting, Directing, Jack Lemmon is perfect

Cons:
Dialog has a few too many*&^%, #@%&, and &%@# for the kiddies!

Fat and round and firmly packed It was hanging on the rack Someone stole the kishka When I turned my back Who stole the kishka? Who stole the kishka? Who stole the kishka? Someone bring it back! Trad. Polish song Alfred Hitchcock became famous as a filmmaker for introducing the McGuffin - a seeming nothing that the plot of a film was built around. In Psycho, for example, the theft of $40,000 is parlayed into a good 45 minutes of film only to dissolve into a horrifying shower scene from which events rapidly descend, the $40,000 never playing a major role in the story again. Playwright David...

James Foley s Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)
Review created: 01/12/03
by: artbyjude -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Lemmon, Pacino, Arkin, Harris in that order. Cinematography, Musical score

Cons:
All testosterone. Gratuitous use of bad language, and Mamet's typically schizophrenic dialog

I have had this DVD on my desk for three months, to do this review. Why? Because basically, even though everyone loves this movie, it has been nominated for multiple awards, the actors were superb and the screen play was written by David Mamet, (winning a Pulitzer in the stage version). I don t like the movie. I was hoping that after a while, I would watch it again and change my mind. Ain t gonna happen. Wanna know why? I may be the only person on the face of the earth who finds Mamet s dialog annoying. Filled with sentences that don t quite make sense, and statements that sound like they...

  Another Day, Another Dollar.
Review created: 05/28/01
by: The_Wood -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Performances, dialogue.

Cons:
Not visually impressive.

Glengarry Glen Ross is a film that is made up of pure testosterone. More so than any war or action film. Glengarry Glen Ross is a film about angry depressed men. Men who work in a environment that is a lot like a battlefield. Glengarry Glen Ross, is the type of film that has big brass balls, and isn't afraid to stick 'em in your face and say, 'this is a man's world.' Glengarry Glen Ross has some of the best actors and the best acting in a film ever. The cast: Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Kevin Spacey, Jonathan Pryce. Directed by James Foley, a director who has..

Glengarry GlenRoss - #22 on Laser Disc .....Remembering - Jack Lemmon... 1925-2001
Review created: 07/19/01
by: ASourdough4 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Integrity - Great Acting and no letup from start to finish!

Cons:
Yes, it's a 'Downer'. But it's a realistic and probable one.

This review is the Twenty-Second in a series that commemorates the Laser Disc and provides us with an opportunity to revisit our film collection on this now forgotten medium. The review: Honoring the Memory of John Uhler Lemmon III, 1925-2001 GlenGarry GlenRoss (38th of his 46 Films on Video) Released 1992, 100 Minutes, Color, 2.21:1 Wide Screen, Studio - Zupnik Cinema/Live Home Video. Rated 'R' because every character had a potty mouth. INTRODUCTION Have you ever succumbed to a voice from a kiosk with a line like; "Would you like to win a Brand New Jeep?". Here, just fill out this card and...
