  50 Cent's first album
Review created: 03/20/08

It's a shame that he sold out to the Sex-sells bullshit-rap monster. But when he came out, 50 was on fire. This album is a good indication of the genius potential that he had. The early G-Unit Radio releases are even better, they're kind of like 'legitimage bootlegs', check em' out!!! GGG G-UNIT!!!!

  Classic Album
Review created: 09/25/07

By far one of the best albums in recent hip-hop history. Selling and amazing 870,000 copies opening week. 50 had the whole world going crazy in 2003. In Da Club, 21 Questions, PIMP, and Many Men made him an International Superstar.

  Another great buy on Ebay
Review created: 05/09/07

I have been wanting another copy of the cd since mine was stolen and I was browsing on ebay and seen it. It was at a great price, so I decided to bid on it. I was really impressed on how fast the seller had the itemed shipped to me. Ebay really needs to give recongition to the great sellers on here, because believe me there are some pretty great sellers on ebay who are just outstanding and stand behind the product they sell.

  Get Rich or Die Tryin'
Review created: 05/01/07

It was good to get this hugely popular cd for 1/2 price. There must be tons on the market so I'm glad I didn't give 50 cent more business buy buying it new. All in all, I wanted to hear some of the hits which it has so that's good. Otherwise, 50 Cent's music is devoid of anything real stimulating and he defintely over sexes and talks about violence and guns too much in his music.

50 in the club and on the streets is heat

Pretty hot album from a talented rapper. A big step up from his first album. 50 and Eminem and Nate Dogg all on the same album? You'd be cheating yourself if you didn't buy it.

  Can't Escape it

EVERYONE and I mean everyone has heard Up In the Club. You couldn't escape for a period of 6 months. Fitty brough the goods with his debut album. With production from Dre and a fresh style, Fitty grabs you with his gritty, street tough rhymes. I think this album is straight from the heart unlike the newer stuff he has been putting out. It is also solid from the standpoint that it stays away form the beefs that 50 has had.

Will 50 Cent Get Rich or Die Trying? - The Odds Are 50-50
Review created: 02/11/03
by: madtheory -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
A couple of bangers.

Cons:
Mostly more unimaginative thug rap.

The unbelievable hype surrounding Get Rich Or Die Trying is irrefutable evidence that those nine bullets that slammed into the body of New York rapper 50 Cent back in 1999 were a blessing in disguise. Though he sparked an interest in himself with his early jam How to Rob, his mostly middling subsequent tracks and releases only brought him a moderate degree of recognition in the industry. All that changed with the shooting incident. Suddenly, 50s mixtapes and freestyles were the hottest things in the streets, riding high on the ghetto credibility that only multiple GSWs can bring. Signing with.

50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Tryin' - He Got Rich Alright
Review created: 07/04/03
by: cletta1201 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
production is flawless - okay, not flawless but it's damn good

Cons:
average rhymes, average flow

I ve always been mildly amused at the beef between Ja Rule and new rap phenom 50 Cent, partially because beef in Hip-Hop is so played out and largely because I don t see much difference between the two adversaries. While 50 Ferrari charges that Ja isn t real (whatever real happens to be at the moment), he uses the fact that he was shot nine times and his hard upbringing as some kind of street bravado proof that he is in fact the real deal. While 50 does get my condolences for being the victim of that utterly heinous crime he is little more than an average rapper, with average flow, average...

50 Cent: The Very Definition Of Popularity By Association
Review created: 04/16/03
by: awoolcott -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Nice beats

Cons:
Not so nice lyrics

By now, most everyone knows the story of Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent. A former drug hustler in Queens, NY, 50 escaped the drug game and went into rapping, making his name on various underground recordings, most especially the underground hit "How to Rob", where he described how he was going to mug many of the top rappers in the game. He scored a record deal with Columbia, and recorded the album Power of the Dollar, to release in 2000. However, before the release of his debut, 50 was shot 9 times, in either a retaliation for "How to Rob" or someone involved in 50's drug-laden past..

  The thug Eminem wasn't?

Pros:
Excellent production that matches 50's flow and persona very well.

Cons:
It made Eminem think he was a G.

I'm tempted to give this 4.5 stars rounded to 5, but that judgment'll come later. As plenty of people know, 50 Cent is one of the most popular and despised figures in hip hop today -- which isn't contradictory like it sounds, considering this happens all the time in the genre. Simply put, he became an immediate pop sensation with incredibly catchy singles ("In da Club," "21 Questions.") That, combined with the fact that he's a gangsta rapper, predictably made him one of the most hated new artists within devout hip-hop circles. Now, I think it's perfectly legitimate to criticize 50 Cent (like..

"Get Rich or Die Tryin'": he'll be rich alright, dunno about the album though...
Review created: 01/31/03
by: paulyoungotti -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Some solid tracks, powered by the production. A few glimpses of talent.

Cons:
Mostly generic thug stuff you've heard a million times before, 50 is an awful emcee.

If you haven t yet heard of 50 Cent, then you will very soon. Who is he? Well, he s basically the latest emcee to blow the f--k up (I m stealing one of my favourite lines of Evidence from Dilated Peoples there), with his second solo album Get Rich or Die Trying , which is looking to be one of the biggest selling albums of 2003 already. It s funny how 50 Cent has risen from near-obscurity to the brink of being one of rap s biggest sellers. Born as Curtis Jackson in Queens, New York, 50 s first splash down in the rap game was Power of the Dollar , which my information says is still unreleased.
