i love it, very relaxing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John Legend is a very talented ole school voiced talent. I am embarrassed that I did not buy this cd upon his debut however when I heard Once Again I knew I had to go back to the beginning. This fella is awesome and if you enjoy true musical talent and the piano he's your guy.
Modern day Ray Charles with more of a hip hop twist. I expected a bit less rap on his album, but was still impressed with how well rounded the CD was by the end. Refreshing to see a new face in Hollywood that lives up to their reputation! Highly reccomended!
From start to finish this album is S-O-L-I-D! Legend is in line to take the throne of the rapidly dying king of R&B, R. Kelly. Definitely add to your collection.
I absolutely love this CD! I listen to it everyday. I will admit while I don't like EVERY track, there are five tracks that make this CD one of my favs!
this is a cd that took me by surprise. I thought I only liked one song on it, but before I knew it I was humming them all. they are all beautifully performed and they all seem to carry a message.John Legend is very gifted both as a writer and a performer and I expect to hear a lot more from him in the near future.
This cd is one of the best cd's ever made. I love the finer music of the day's gone by, Marvin, David Ruffin, Anita Baker, so if you love these artist's this is a cd you would love
I purchased this CD as I heard a couple of songs and thought I would like this CD, which I like every song on it. It is extremely uplifting and I have hours of listening enjoyment in the car, on my travels. I bought it from this individual because they had good feedback and was not charging a tremendous amount for shipping. The whole experience was fantastic. Shipping was fast and I had great communications with the seller. Thank you. Mary
I saw John Legend on Oprah. I had never heard him before, but loved his soulful sound. I bought the CD on ebay because I quite frankly didn't want to pay full price for the CD and be disappointed. I wasn't disappointed. I loved the variety of songs -- R&B with a touch of jazz/blues. I am an accompanist and was especially impressed with the piano tracks. His voice is unique and kept my attention. His music is special and I will buy his next CD.
I purchased the John Legend CD - Get Lifted, and found it to be true to it's title. After listening to the CD in it's entirety, I was truly lifted. I find this artist to be a breath of fresh air, uncomparable to none other. He is a gifted artist and abundantly blessed. His presentation on this CD is magnificent! After viewing his live concert in London on TV, I knew I had to have it. I found myself totally mesmerized by his talent. He brought me to my feet in the privacy of my own home, dancing on feet and in my soul. I highly recommend this CD to music lovers of all kind, he has something to offer everyone. This is a WINNER!
The music, composition, and John Legend's voice are all awesome. Listening to the lyrics, I was disappointed. Someone with that much talent musically and vocally, should really be bright enough to have someone write his songs for him. Ordinary People is by far the best overall song. I kept waiting to hear something deep and meaningful from the rest of the songs but well...at least the music and his voice are great.
For this to be a used cd, it is good. I chose to buy this cd because I like the artist music and the price included shipping, is alot cheaper than the other stores such as best buy or circuit city in my area
I really enjoyed listening to this CD. This album offers listeners easy and relaxing lyrics. This CD is a must for those who enjoy R&B, easy jazz, and some blues. John Legend is very talented and does a great job with writing and producing this album. Also, this CD offers great romantic love songs. This CD is a must to buy. I will recommend this CD to anyone.
I like the smooth singing of John Legend. It's the kind of music one enjoy while riding with his lady after enjoying a dinner at a fine restaurant. I heard the song "Ordinary People" and decided that I had to have this CD.
I bought this album a bit ago and it's really grown on me. It's a very easy album to listen to, flows really well from song to song. JL is a very talented musician, a clear tone and style reminiscent to Alicia Keys.
Key tracks: - Used to Love U - Ordinary People - So High

Pros: Totally diggable in almost every way.
Cons: Sigh.
I thought for sure it must be a sample. That slithery guitar line on the song Alright , the one I remembered from that self-released live CD I bought off John Legend s website a couple months ago, the one Dave Tozer played with such methodical precision only now, it s played on my gawd, what is that? Is that a tuba? It can t be a tuba. It sounds like a tuba. Must be a sample, right? Let me check the liners. Damn! It s a friggin tuba! Producer Kanye West, also known as Mr. 2005 Grammy Awards, heard that snaking guitar line, the one that sounded pretty cool, but also just a tad bit generic,...

Pros: More than fifteen words could even begin to discuss
Cons: None, this album is fantastic from start to finish.
Once in awhile there comes a musician who manages to move everything forward and yet back all at the same time. Filled with stunning melodies and vocal arrangements, substantial lyrics and something wonderfully unique, Legend proves he's gonna be exactly that. Just as Alicia Keys came around and set the bar extremely high for female R

John Legend's Get Lifted: He Takes You Higher
Review created: 06/10/05

Pros: He's a musician first, singer second
Cons: Material can be immature and goofy, but it's charming at the same time
Very few artists are marketed perfectly. At times they are over marketed and when they aren't proven to be "the next big thing", they are tagged as a failure and slowly are driven right out of the picture. But there are some who are brought along perfectly. Alicia Keys comes to mind. When Alicia Keys hit the scene with her signature calling, Falling, it was a patient plan. Clive Davis and company knew they had the goods. Keys was attractive, could play the piano, had a great voice, and was New York. The fellas were attracted to her, but also wanted to hang out with her. She had that type of...

Lifting R&B Music to the Next Level: Kanye Finally Did Something Right

Pros: incredible depth and range, covers his bases well, not much Kanye, normal guy swagger
Cons: I'm not him
The release date is one of the most important decisions an artist or record label can make about a project. For all of the promo, radio play and appearances one can make, nothing beats prime release real estate, especially when you re a newer artist afraid of being swallowed whole. If you are constantly moved about or delayed, even the most hardcore fans can lose track of you. If you come out at a crowded mid-fall release and aren t a truly viable artist yet, you have the potential to get lost in the hype shuffle and not have that much impact. All of this, basically your career, can depend...
