Garmin nuvi 660 Car GPS Receiver

I do over the road trucking and must find many new addresses. This unit is very good at what it does, but does not replace good directions and common sense, it compliments them. Nice to know left exits, and distance to location, etc. I would recommend it to anyone as a tool to be used while driving. Haven't used many of the features yet but may later. Bluetooth, audiobooks, etc. Traffic alerts in big cities are handy, but usually just let you know you're in for a bit of a wait. Not too many errors yet, but a few. These tools have their own little quirks. We sometimes disagree on routes and the little unit is very stubborn! Overall tho, I'd buy again.

It is exactly what i require and after reseaching opposing makes consider it to be be top of the line in its class.
I try only to buy better class items.

I like the size and ease of use. It does agreat job directing and has a pretty thourough list of restaurants etc. I also like the fact you can take it when you travel-very convenient and easy for travel anywhere in the USA.

Garmin continues to be my favorite GPS company and the Nuvi 660 upgrades my opinion. It features spoken directions with street names, Bluetooth connection with your phone that allows full access to your phone book and voice dialing AND real time traffic alerts with optional avoidance ($60.00 for a year subscription).

Only a few nit picks: the built in FM transmitter for MP3 playing isn't crystal clear (some static) and WHY OH WHY do they make WIDER screens when the maps move from top to bottom (My Garmin iQue 3600 has a long screen, top to bottom, but it's getting old).

All in all, a great all in one GPS unit with more features then most people will use (except techno geeks like me).

I bought both units. Clearly the simpler to operate is the Garmin. Both units have 2008 updates, but the garmin sees streets built last year, the Go720 does not. Mounting kit for the garmin is better. Neither are perfect.

We do quite a bit of traveling, so we purchased the Nuvi to use when we're gone from home. It found the address where when we were traveling in Washington state and worked well. It would be nice if it were more convenient to download updates.
We decided to buy it because friends had purchased a Nuvi and we had seen how it worked.
We have seen it priced for less, but are not sure if the ones advertised were new or used.

no problems with the garmen so far it was packaged well and would buy again from seller , thanks. It has already saved me me time on the road. I bought it because the price was good and I have borrowed my friends tom tom and the garmen is much better

and I only had it for a few hours the FM transmitter to get its audio via the car's audio system is wonderful also the wireless feature sinchronized all my Outlook contacts immediatelly.
I had another Garmin for my wife and I wanted one for me. This one is a blast.

-The 2008 maps are not up to date in my region, e.g.: streets built 5 years ago not showing at all...
-The MP3 playback in fussy, it seems to use software of my old MP3 player (not up to date...)
-The FM transmitter is OK if you live fare away from a big city, because trying to get a good channel is almost impossible !
-The map features are good, very practicle when in traffic that it talks the directions.
-Software has little issues like volume control not on the main map page and when typing their is no shift key so you must go to the menu to access simple "-" or "," it's time consuming...
-The phone feature is great, here isn’t against the law to talk on the phone while driving.
-I'd think for the price they sell them, they could at least include software like trip planning on the computer !
-It's fast and precise and gets where you want to go and you feel confident that it will do that good !

I would recommend the nuvi 660 for the direction capacity and the bleutooth.

Bought the unit for my husband for Father's Day. He considers himself electronically challenged but did just fine in setting it up. It would be nice, however, to have a paper manual rather than just a cd with instructions.

We feel we're now in the 21st Century. What an amazing device. It shows everything - roads, interchanges, waterway, etc.. The best feature is the voice feature. The last thing you want is to be distracted looking at the screen. With the voice activation you can follow directions easily and they're given far enough in advance that you have plenty of time to change lanes to make turns, etc. We drove to our son's house following the gps instructions and found a new route. Terrific gizmo!

I bought this for my husband who travels alot! He loves it and so do I. we are somewhat directionally challenged (my husband more-so), so this has saved us much stress and time. We just put in the info or do a search and we are on our way. Even when my husband knows where he is going, he will use it to just remind him. We chose the Garmin Nuvi over other GPS systems because we liked it the best. It is easy to navigate through and easy to follow. We have used a Tom Tom and other GPS devices in past and just were not as please with them. Its a cool little gadget. Just like a cell phone, pretty soon it will be a necessity. My husband and I researched all the products and quite happy with our purchase. We really do not have any negatives about the Garmin Nuvi.

Purchased the product at an eBay auction and got it for a great price. The product was refurbished and looks and works great. Every purchase from many different eBay sellers has been nothing but great. The Garmin customer service is fantastic. I have had other brand name GPS models and none of them compare to Garmin quality. The Garmin 660 has all the features that the average person will ever need. The text to speech feature is something I would not be without. It announces the street names when giving directions and I have found that to be a great help. If you are in the market for a GPS Receiver be sure to make it a Garmin.

The Garmin Nuvi 660 is fabulous! I highly recommended it, especially because my first trip with the Nuvi took me from the state of California, all the way to my home in North Carolina! I had never used or even seen a GPS unit before I made my purchase, and I did not know at the time I would fly to California. As it worked out, my trip from Cali required that I drive back to North Carolina, and the most I had ever driven was 4 hours at one time! Physically and mentally, it was tough; very tough, but the Garmin never missed one turn, and even when I needed to find a place to rest for the night, updating to find a place when so easy! Despite the fact that I drove through states and saw places I had never even heard of, the Garmin kept me relaxed and at ease, even with the unfamiliar. I use it all the time now, learning streets in my own city I never paid any attention to before. There is not much of a learning curve, and the voice prompts are clear and crisp, so go ahead, Buy It Now! You will not regret it!

Very slick unit. It is intuitive and will pay for itself in gas saving -I take the long way alot. This unit was especially helpfull in finding gas, lodging and shopping while on road trips. The only problem is that I could have gotten by with a lesser garmin Nuvi. I will not use many of it's features, but I do like the large screen size. The battery life was not as advertised either.

This is my second Garmin Purchase. This one is a great purchase. The quality outlasts and out performs other Knock off GPS but Garmin really sets the standard. every feature works great. The Blue tooth was very simple and connects great. If your phone doesnt........Like my wifes, you can go to the garmin website and download a patch for it. A great deal.

Very nice, no need for 780- as I don't travel in large cities. Unit has more features than I'll every use. Very accurate, although sometimes takes a rout that is not necessarily better., overall excellent , screen, voice and clip on. would buy again

The Garmin nuvi 660 Car GPS Receiver is a great system. You can even use your phone via bluetooth capability with it!

So far everything seems very easy to figure out without using the user guide. Very straight forward and easy to change settings. I am having some problems with loading postal codes. It seems to want put different letter than what I want to enter. The dash disk mount does not stick, so I might have to glue it.

We just returned from a 3,000 mile trip to the US Open...The Garmin 660 was unbelievable. Direction, detours, Resturants,it does and shows you everything. A great investment.
