Diane Arbus was an amazing photographer. She had a way of capturing and even finding beauty in things that repulse or frighten the average person. I didn't have high hopes for this movie at all. It's rare for a fictional movie based on a real person to work on any level. And I was right, as far as Diane Arbus goes this does not work at all. But if you take out any association with her, and if you like adult fairy tales you could like this. It's well done, artistic, visually engaging, and leaves you feeling both love and hate for it. Out of respect for Diane Arbus I'm going to embrace the hate. 2 1/2 Stars.

Wow, this was an interesting find. I'd never heard of it before and was surprised that it had Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. in it. I actually liked it and was saddened at the end. I'm glad I watched it.

  Fur is delightful

Too bad the DVD cover gives away the story...
Diane Arbus was a rebel. She took images of people outside the conformity zone. They let her explore their unique-ness. FUR explores her. It is not a real biopic tale, but an imagined story of how she came to be involved in the other side of society. She came from starchy New York parents - sometimes that's enough. But she didn't rebel and discover her talent until well past her teen years.
FUR explores one possible scenario and does it with panache. Try not to read the notes or look at the dvd packaging (Netflix has no art...). Your pay off is the surprise reveal. www.bluntreview.com

Pros:
Amazing cinematography,fine acting..

Cons:
strange especially if you aren't expecting what you see on the screen

Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus I must admit, though I knew of Diane Arbus and her legendary legacy in the world of photography, I was stunned and surprised when I watched this movie last night. I guess I didn't know what to expect. Fur is certainly a strange movie but when I realized that this was a fictional account of a factual person, blending both elements together, weaving a spellbinding tale, I came to appreciate the story much more as the film progressed then, after thinking about it for a while, and watching some of the scenes again, I realized I had just watched some of...

Fur takes on a whole new fashion

Pros:
Nearly everything...

Cons:
.. well, certainly 'disturbing' and dark content. Maybe a bit too perverse for most.

Steven Shainberg s latest film, Fur, is an imaginative tale of seduction and intrigue. Much like his 2002 film, Secretary, which successfully answered the question, Can a dominant and a submissive find everlasting love? He manages to, once again, capture the same brilliant blend of tantalizing debauchery and sweet, poignant tenderness that made his preceding film so great. He creates a world that, although far from mainstream, many viewers will take an interest in exploring. Make no mistake, curiosity, on part of the viewer, will definitely be a key component in determining whether or not...
