A MUST SEE!! VERY INTERESTING, SUSPENSEFUL, AND GOOD!!! Samuel L. Jackson played a great role, while we didnt care much for Juianne Moore and her role, but with all that said... ITS A MUST SEE!!
It was more than we had expected, and kept our attention from beginning to end!
I did not purchase this item, I was on a mission trip and did not get purchase payment to seller in a timely manner and received a strike for it. Sometimes things are out of our control. I think that the seller could have extended consideration, but then there were no other bidders and I would have gotten the item for almost nothing. Peace!
I purchase the movie because it was highly recommend to watch. Upon watching the movies, it did take a little while to get interest in the movie. Unless the stars in the movies, is actors of movies that you collect I would not recommend adding to my collection. I guess the movies was an okay movies and I will the actors in the movie.
I bought Freedomland a month ago .I was very pleased with the movie,it kept me on my tip toes.I really enjoyed the movie it was great to be able to watch it with my family and they also enjoyed watching it and keep on asking to see the movie over and over again. I recommand anyone to purchase a copy you will love the it to.
The Movie was alright Just Don't care about Samuel L. Jackson He Has a mouth like a sewer in all of his movies I think He's more racist then they put the cops out to be, Not just in this movie But in most of his movies, I think they should have put some other actor in his place, And there are tons of actors way better then Samuel jackson I would give him two thumbs DOWN Like i do in most of his movies. The rest Of the actors and actresses did great in this movie. But because Mr Jackson was in this movie it got an Average from me. CLEAN UP YOUR ACT MR JACKSON!!!!
One of his worst movies I have seen. There were too many youth using so many profanity!!! It did not protray Black youth (and other minorities) in a good way and neither did Samuel L Jackson's character.
This movie was alright. I didn't like the casting very well, but the plot was pretty good. Julianne Moore plays a mother who was carjacked with her son in the back seat, she acts like she's mental, not traumitized. You know somethings up the whole movie when you see how freaky she acts. I also don't think Samual Jackson was a great selection for his role. I would rather see Jackson in an action movie, maybe physically fighting crime, or as Dave Chappelle said, gettin his head bit off by a shark in Deep Blue Sea, but instead you get to see Jackson trying to be a mastermind, and in the end, he didnt even find anything out! It was kind of dissapointing. The plot was a good suspense film and kept me watching the whole time, but I also caught myself laughing at the poor acting. I'd recommend renting this movie before deciding to buy it.
This "who dunnit" or "what happened" movie combines crime and mystery with some twists. The outcome is very heart-wrenching. I wish it would have ended positively.
Good movie! Great set up that keeps you hooked! I bought it because I'm a big Samuel Jackson fan, and was not disapointed. If you don't buy this movie i definitely recomend renting it!
This movie was terribly long and I knew what the outcome was going to be all along. If I had it to do over again this should have been a rental. I don't recommend buying it. It seems to disappoint!
"Freedomland" will not be a popular movie. The movie doesn't have enough action and the action is does contain is more to promote a message than to titillate. Its message is basically about inner city racism. Its about the fuss made over a missing white child in a black community. The story is about a white women who was car-jacked in a housing project and, unknown to the jacker, her 4 year old son was in the car's back seat. You'll have to see the movie to see the rest since revealing the story would completely ruin the movie. I really enjoyed this movie. I thought the performances by Samuel Jackson, William Forsythe and Ron Eldard were realistic and affecting. One standout was Edie Falco. She played a very unglamorous role and was powerfully affecting. She should get an Academy Award nomination for this role. She was fabulous. Another standout was Julianne Moore who was very miscast. I did not like her in this role. She played a very weak, flawed and emotionally stunted individual whose behavior at times turned my stomach. I did not like the character. The character was not written to be liked, maybe pitied and I think that aspect is what Ms. Moore was trying to evoke. I think she did too good a job at making her character weak and flawed and missed a toughness that the book's character had. To live in the environment that she did she would have acquired more emotional survival skills than the movie's character portrayed. Ms. Moore's character looked like she wandered onto the set from a suburban mall. Her looks and demeanor next to the strong Black women characters made her appear too weak and her obstinacy appears to be more stupidity. I think Edie Falco could have played this role better with her strength and then the revelations and breakdown when the toughness crumbled would have been more effective. The movie is unfortunately being advertised as a thriller and audiences expecting action and things blowing up will be disappointed. "Freedomland" is one of those movies that Hollywood doesn't get or know what to do with but it is a very worthwhile movie to see. I gave it a 8 out 10. I downgraded it slightly because of Ms. Moore's performance.
This was a great story, it kept me guessing from start to finish. Brenda Martin claims her car is stolen, but you have to wonder why she didn't mention right away that her boy was in the back seat. Did she kill him? Or does he even exist? Samuel Jackson plays the tough cop with a soft heart, and Julianne Moore plays the mentally twisted mother. A really good film.

Samuel L Jackson and Julianne Moore Face Racial Issues in Freedomland

Pros: Jackson and Moore. Interesting idea for the plot.
Cons: Unlikable characters. Went in a direction I didn't like.
There has been tension between people of different races and cultures since the beginning of time. Those tensions have lead to violence on more than one occasion. Many people have formed opinions and developed hatred for an entire group of people that they don t even know. Several movies have dealt with different racial issues. Some have helped to expose the truth about horrible situations while others have just played into the negative stereotypes. Unfortunately, I think the new movie Freedomland relied heavily on the negative preconceptions that many people have. Late one night, Brenda...

Freedomland ---- A failed work of dramatic acting with Samuel L Jackson and Julianne Moore

Pros: absolutely none
Cons: a wasted premise, very bad dialogue, terrible screen-writing, no chemistry in leads
Freedomland seemed to be one of those films that would be great at encompassing a lot of dramatic plot lines while be acted out by two great dramatic actors. With Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore in the two lead roles, this looked like the type of movie that could have turned out quite good. Jackson plays a run-down detective, who is a person of the people, interacting with them on a personal level, rather than exuding his power as a detective over them. Because of his closeness with the neighborhoods he works, it seems almost destined that he will be the person later on in the film who...

Pros: The acting was good.
Cons: The stereotypes and exaggeration were too much.
When I first saw the previews for this movie starring Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore, I wasn't really sure what it was about. I never did see it at the movies, so I rented it when it came out on DVD this week. My summary contains major plot spoilers, only because I feel that it would be hard to discuss the movie otherwise, and also because I believe most film goers would see the eventual ending coming a mile away anyway. Plot Julianne Moore plays a young hysterical mother, Brenda Martin, who comes into the hospital one night, very distraught. Apparently, she has been the victim of a car.

Freedomland misses the punchline

Pros: Potential, great acting by Moore and Jackson, excellent soundtrack!
Cons: To wishy washy in various themes that don't balance out.
Freedomland is a movie with some great actors, but it s a story that ends up falling a bit flat in the end. The movie stars some of our favorites in Julianne Moore and Samuel L. Jackson. It s after mentioning their names that this star, that started so brightly, starts to burn out. The movie starts off with Julianne Moore s character (Brenda Martin) walking into a hospital with her hands all bloodied up. A gazed look in her eye, she eventually is taken aside to be cared for when it is learned that she is the victim of a carjacking. Soon detective Lorenzo Council (Sam Jackson) arrives to get...

Grieving Mother or Psycho? Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore Star in Freedomland

Pros: good acting, interesting story, first half excellent
Cons: the film wandered off the path and failed to deliver in the end
Lorenzo Council (Samuel L. Jackson) is a respected member of his community and well-known to the all-black neighborhood surrounding the Armstrong housing complex. Council has made it his job to watch over the tenants of the complex and tries to gently guide the ones he sees straying back on the path without intervention from outside the neighborhood. When he answers a call to talk to a woman that just stumbled into a nearby hospital he has no way of knowing that that system of keeping the outsiders out and insiders in is going to come crashing down around his ears. The woman, Brenda Martin ...
