I have read The Five People you Meet in Heaven and Tuesdays with Morrie; and absolutely Loved them! This book flows with the same excitement and ease as the the other two mentioned also written by Mitch Albom. I have never been a avid reader, and with interruptions of the House and Kids, can hardly find the time to read. These books "Take Me Away" and allow me time for myself and the ability to reflect on what the writer says. I think we can all find a piece of ourselves in his writing. This book is a quick reader with great impact. A definite must in your home library collection.
I have read Mitch Albom's books, Tuesdays With Morrie and The Five People You Meet In Heaven, both of which I liked. I liked this latest book by Albom, too. It is written in his simple, easy style that pulls you into the story despite yourself. I felt I knew where the story was going, and yet, I couldn't put it down. In his other books, Albom hits a personal nerve for most people and this book is no different. For One More Day may not drasticly change your life, but it will probably make you stop for a moment, look around and wonder at the choices you make. Its that kind of book.
I bought this book for my sons summer high school reading assignment. It was an assigned book so I wasnt sure if he would like it or not. It turns out he must have liked it since he was finished reading it a day after we got it. Now I have a book that he insist that I must read this weekend.
I love Mitch Albom's books. I have read two of his others and was looking forward to receiving this one to add to the collection. Unfortunately, I paid for this item but have never received it.
I thought this was a good book, I finished it in a day. It was very easy to read and I think it's a subject that many people could relate to. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good book
this seller is excellent to work with, i receives shipment faster than a item I won a few days earlier(that I am still waiting for. books were in great shape and seller repersented them as they were. I would bid on this sellers items in a heart beat
I recently read this book and decided to purchase and mail it to my adult son. The book was both heartwarming and insightful about our perceptions of relationships with family members but most of all HOW those perceptions are formed. To a large degree, the book details the life of a young mother following a divorce and her attempt to shield her young son from the painful experiences of losing his father. I believe it's a book meant to be shared with any adult male who might wonder about HOW his relationship with his mother may have materialized at a young age...and HOW he can ultimately grow to appreciate her sacrifices for him, ultimately understanding the true meaning of a mother's love.
My young husband died suddenly one yr. ago, so I'm on the long journey of healing filled with grief. This book was very helpful in my situation, as I could relate to a lot of the story.
The book deals with the pain of loosing a loved one and how much we suffer from that loss. I liked the fact that the author shows you without condemning or judging how much you take for granted and how far most of us would go for one more tday with that person to show them how you really feel and tell them what you think. You realize that for those you have left here with you take nothing for granted say I love you show them how you feel do all those things while they are alive.
I love Albom's way of getting to the heart of his characters. This book was a quick read, easily as good as his other books and one which provokes thought on the part of the reader. Definitely a good one to add to your collection!
If you have read any other books my Mitch Albom, then this is another must! It's short and simple to read but it will really keep you engaged throughout the entire book!
I really liked Tuesdays With Morrie and I liked The Five People You Meet In Heaven so I wanted to read this book by Mitch Albom. It makes you think about the people you have lost and what you would do if you could have another day with them. In the book it is just the normal day to day activities but they answer all the questions he had. It was a good read. :)
I read this book and loved it. As a mother, and someone who lost a parent, I felt my daughter who is away at college needed to read it so that she remembers the love of mother.
Just like all of Mitch Alboums book this one was fantastic..I literally could not put it down..I read it withing the 1 hours that I got it in the mail..Powerful message!
I've read all of Mitch Albom's books, and since I love his writing style I decided just to buy it. It was a great addition to my library! It was about the subconcious and the place it can live in when it is near death. It strongly addressed the topic of suicide, the main character is trying to kill himself in the opening chapters. I really loved the mentality that the book takes.
I was looking for a fast and easy "beach read" book for my last vacation. I have never been disappointed by any of Mr. Albom's books so this one looked perfect. I was familiar with the story line but had no idea how this story would affect me. I lost my beloved Mom 3 yrs. ago and what I would give for "One More Day". The lesson I got from this book is that when our elders are alive ASK MORE QUESTIONS ! Learn about their life and learn all the truths and falses of their life. Mom and I always had the usual chit chats but when ever she started reminising I only half listened. Now I have so many questions about her life but I missed my chance. My New years resolution is to start writing journals about myself for my children after I am gone. Thank You Mitch for another heartwarming and beautiful story. My only complaint was that it ended much too fast.
THE TWO BOOKS WERE FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS. I HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK, BUT DID READ TWO OTHERS OF MITCH ALBOM. THE BOOKS WERE SENT PROMPTLY FOR CHRISTMAS. THANKS
Before I recieved the book I thought that it was several stories about different people. Then when I started reading it I realized it was about one person. That dissapointed me, but as I continued reading then I understood and grew to love the story. Great weekend book.
Listened to the book on CD and wanted to give it to my Mom as a Christmas gift. Was released as a tv movie around the first of December. Mitch Albom is a recent favorite of my Mom.
Charles "Chick" Benetto, an aging, wantabe, almost hasbeen, baseball player, turned alcoholic, goes on a sucide mission. After a drunk driving accident he is teetering between life and death, and gets to spend One More Day with his deceased mother, who helps him to gain understanding as to why and how his life got so messed up and he finds that he does have some reasons to go on living.
A very good story. A book about family relationships, a quick read, an easy book to read.Has been made into a movie as well.
This book is incredible. It is such a compelling story. And the even made a movie of it that comes in 12/9/07. Such a wonderful tale about a man who has hit rock bottom and finds he's not alone after all.
