Incredible score, perfect cast
Cons:
Too many cuts in the score
Although it truncates and mangles a glorious score, the original cast album is still the best recording of Stephen Sondheim's Follies. The performers are irreplaceable and make this one of the essential musical theater recordings. The Show Follies is a title with several meanings. Literally, it refers to the Ziegfeld-type Follies, lavish entertainments that flourished during the time period between the two world wars.
