Fleetwood Mac - The Dance THE MOVIE/DVD
Review created: 06/18/08

Produced in 1997 by Lindsey Buckingham and Elliot Scheiner, The DVD has most of the most loved Fleetwood Mac songs of their career. Whether its Stevie Nicks and her haunting voice sounding better than ever, or the meshing of the unique spirits and styles of bandmates, Fleetwood Mac is a phenomenon. Played across the miles for the past thirty plus years, its music that our memories were set to. First kisses to "Sara" in any backseat, dancing wildly to "Don't Stop " and saying I Love You to "Landslide" or "Songbird". At many parties, it was a staple when I was a young man.

Fleetwood Mac is comprised of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks. The band wasn't even suppose to have Nicks, but they wanted Lindsey Buckingham and she was his girlfriend at the time and he would not come into it without her. She took it by storm and added her mystery and charm to its music. All have had their share of divorce, sex, drugs, and too much rock and roll or, was it the other way around? But, despite all the trouble the bandmates have shared, they came together for this reunion in 1997 for this spectacular performance.

If you loved them in the 70's, you will still love them now. A more mature sound, and more mentally together than they were 20 years ago, the lyrics seem to just come alive now. It still brings chills and yes, sometimes tears when I watch this video! You have to be brain-dead not to get that "tingly" feeling as your mind fills with the images of times gone by.

The only negative that I have which applies to many concert discs is that I've only seen it available in FULL screen format. :>(

Loved everything about it. We are interested in good concerts and like the cheaper price we pay to watch them. Fleetwood Mac put on a great redo of all of them together again in this wonderful concert.

Great Reunion Show, Fun to Watch, Classic FMac (1997)
Review created: 03/08/08

Wow this is a great one! We really enjoyed this show. There is a warm, touching overtone as the band members have reunited and worked together to bring us a delicious taste of our 70's memories. The song selections are arranged and ordered to create an almost tangible picture of Fleetwood Mac. Solo performances by Lindsey Buckingham's fast fingered guitar work remind us that FM is one of those groups that could play 3 notes and we know instantly who they are while blindfolded. Ahhhhhh and or course Stevie Nicks soulful intensity as she moves on the stage to paint her image of the lyrics. There is an explosive crescendo in this show when the band breaks out with the pounding "Tusk". An additional surprise ensemble (that's all I want to tell you now :) marches onto the stage. Beautiful Christine McVie and her sad eyes melts my heart! She finishes the show with an absolutely "stilling" rendition of Songbird.

I am very glad that I bought this DVD.

  Stevie and Lindsey rock!!!
Review created: 03/07/08(updated 03/07/08)

This is a must-have for all Fleetwood Mac fans! I can't say enough about it, I really can't...

Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most awesome guitarists I have ever seen and to watch him play (he uses no pick except for the banjo) is incredible! His son My Little Demon is one that everyone should be able to relate to.

Stevie Nicks is her usual gorgeous self and puts forth a very good effort to recreate the old songs. She is awesome on all of the songs, even though I have seen her on other vids doing Rhiannon in the 70's and she totally put her all into it then, but she is still amazing! Such a joy to watch....spellbinding!

Landslide is simply scrumptious!!!!!!

Buy it! Buy it! Buy it! You will love it....I promise!

Fleetwood Mac, DVD, The Dance, 1997 year
Review created: 02/10/08

This DVD of the 1997 "The Dance" live Fleetwood Mac concert is by far one of the best! Though band members are considerably older however, they still sound excellent and perhaps in some ways, BETTER than studio recordings. If you liked earlier Fleetwood Mac than I'm certain you'll enjoy this DVD as well. Also worth mentioning is that ALL original band members in this 1997 DVD over exceeded expectations in their roles as talented performers.

I love this DVD! I had the concert on VHS & like to many of my other tapes are impossible to watch now that some time has gone by. Fleetwood Mac has been one of my favorite groups for years. And this is a great concert with all my favorite songs on it. There isn't anything that I don't like about it.

First DVD I ever bought 10 years ago! I still watch it

I have followed Fleetwood Mac for over 25 years. When I bought my first DVD player in 1997, I immediatedly purchased "The Dance" as DVD in addition to the CD. So I am definitely biased in favor of Fleetwood Mac. The DVD is excellent. I loved all the songs, but the ones I liked best were Stevie Nicks' Rhiannon and Christine McVie's Songbird. There is also a surprise when the band plays "Don't stop" which was quite fun. I was not able to attend any of the live performances promoting the album, but this DVD definitely made me feel as though I was there - in the good seats. I watch this DVD several times a year and have also downloaded the CD to my iPod. All of the songs are the best of Fleetwood Mac. I have since seen Fleetwood Mac live and Stevie Nicks live, but I still consider this DVD as my favorite. If you are a Fleetwood Mac fan, this is a must addition to your collection.

This is not only an awesome band... this is thier music at it's best.

Modern technology and the events production leaves you breathless... not a single nuance or detail of these timeless songs are left unrealized.

An audio as well as visual experience that will fondly convey the memories and or events from your life that took place when "Fleetwood Mac" was at the height of their popularity and dear to your heart.

Could not use the DVD because of an incorrect "region code"...Check correct region codes for your area before you purchase DVD's. US is region code is #1 and will only play region code #1 in the USA on your US DVD player. Seller was GREAT to deal with!

  Fleetwood Mac - The Dance (1997) +++++
Review created: 10/06/06

Fleetwood Mac has always been one of my all-time favorite bands ever since Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham joined the group in 1975 and they caught my attention with the release of the Stevie Nicks' classics "Rhiannon" (The White Album - 1975) and "Dreams" (Rumours - 1977). Out of all the Fleetwood Mac songs there are, those two remain my favorites. I've only seen the band live twice, the second time being their 1997 "The Dance" tour (Christine McVie's "swan song." A major loss for the band). So, since this concert was Christine McVie's last, and since you get the "best seats" when watching a band filmed live on video, buying the DVD of "The Dance" was a no-brainer! Sorry to see you go, Christine! I bought the band's 2004 live concert DVD set they did without you. Always entertaining, but not quite the same.

The Dance: History of Fleetwood Mac
Review created: 08/06/02
by: George_Chabot-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Movies

Pros:
Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac, Sets, Photography... oh yeah, THE MUSIC

Cons:
The group is no longer together

NOTE: This, my 411th review, is dedicated to 4-1-1 who always knows the location of a good place to get a drink and have a smoke. This one's for you, bud! The concert opens with a drum beat; a cymbal clash; wind chimes tinkle; a cowbell clinks; the darkened stage, backlit in sumptuously eerie electric blue, begins to throb with the rhythm of Mick Fleetwood s drum kit; a guitar adds a simple but hypnotic delta blues riff, an ostinato, the lower string dropped to D ; the bass guitar (John McVie) pulsates in unison with the dropped D note of the guitar; the lights go up, and guitarist Lindsey...

Pros:
Lindsey Buckingham s performance. Very good sound quality. Good video quality.

Cons:
Video quality 4.5/5

Overview: Fleetwood Mac are not exactly the New kids on the Block, they have been around since last three decades entertaining us with their music. What an unusual name! How did they come up with it? Fleetwood being the last name of Mick Fleetwood and Mac being part of John s last name. They have had their ups and downs, break-ups and in case of some members, financial fiascos. Anyway, it was the good times when they actually produced some memorable stuff and quite a bit of it. Going back exactly 26 years, this very month it was in 1975, they released their self-titled album yielding 3 Top...

Velvet Violence, Demonic Dazzlers With Questionable Morals?!
Review created: 12/18/00
by: dustygold -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Fun adventure, good shots of band dynamics, slick and polished, perfect to the last note.

Cons:
If you don't like Fleetwood Mac, this will make you sick.

Maybe Fleetwood Mac never officially broke up, but they fell apart. The general favorite lineup had been the one that created "Rumours," and when that lineup was no more, Fleetwood Mac was as good as dead. Ten years later, in 1997, they had mellowed out enough to be able to work together without fighting, and they reunited. The product that came out of the reunion was "The Dance," an album of live performances from their official reunion concert. To accompany the album came this video, the concert itself. It was actually three performances of the same concert, recorded, if I've got my obscure.

  Don't stop ... !
Review created: 11/23/00
by: AlanCrax -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
All that's best from Fleetwood Mac; better than the CD alone

Cons:
Will they ever do it again?

If you watch one Video concert release, this the live recording of the Fleetwood Mac reunion tour should be it. If you were at the concert, I salute you and will be forever envious of you. If you possess the CD, fine but you have not experienced the whole thing. This is the way to take the blindfold off. I own both (the DVD and the CD). As far as I can tell, they are both from the same recording venue. I enjoy both, but for different reasons. The CD is portable (at home, in the car) and salutes the music of a great group. The video is (in the main) a static medium but salutes this particular..
