I'm from a small town where there is only 1 Save-a-lot. and 1 IGA store to buy your groceries and a lot of things they tell you to use cannot be found in these small stores so I don't know if the book will work or not, all I know is I waisted $33.00 because I can't use it.
I decided to buy the book for the health purposes. As a nursing student the monounsaturdated fats made sense to me. I felt that this would be a healthy choice for losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Book is ok, I just have a hard time following a diet for more than a couple days. It came in good condition and a good amount of time. But for me to do any diet now i see i would fail.
not a good way to teach people to eat. was not able to stay with it. you will do better just eating fresh, lean, and healther foods. i bought this book because i have the bsby pooch, but i will eat well and exercise to lose it.........

I lost about 3 lbs the first 4 days. I think that this diet is a great jump start to a healthier way of eating. I wish to lose a few more pounds-- hopefully in the belly area.
I really appreciate that it is written in straightforward language, no hype, and sensible guidelines. I dislike that most of the recipes are things we do not buy or would eat. So I am trying to find other things that I could substitute. I decided to buy it since a medicine my doctor had me on caused a 30 pound weight gain in one month! In the first 5 days I lost 8 pounds and have continued to lose pounds at a gradual rate. I feel great and have both more energy, and do not desire any of the unhealthy foods I've always liked!
I saw the ladies who wrote this book on TV and decided to buy it. The idea is certainly timely, as most adults in American need to lose a few inches around the middle! Excellent idea, if it would just work. I went online because I can almost always find books cheaper there. I think this book is well written. Excellent layout; easy to read, understand & find info to reread when needed. My husband and I are trying this diet to see if it works. Little expensive to get started on the specific menu items. It seems to be working to help him lose weight. Some inches but not as quickly as expected. I have not lost any inches or weight, and I'm eating the same things. However, he needed to lose quite a few pounds and I did not. I have been going to Curves to exercise daily and had already lost 46 lbs. in the last 18 months that way. Now I need only to lose inches around my middle, especially my abdomen. The Flat Belly Diet seemed perfect for that. It has not happened yet. NONE. We've been on it 5 weeks now. The first 4 days my husband lost 6 pounds, but after the first 2 weeks, he was not losing much more and began to add exercise in order to get it going down again (in this case riding his bike 2 miles after each meal.) I suspect that may have had the most to do with his current weight loss. We will continue counting calories and eating MUFAs as the book suggests until he reaches his goal. I am only continuing because it is easier to cook the same things for me. And it's healthy, delicious food. Maybe it will help me to lose belly fat eventually.... This diet may work great for lots of people. It think it would for folks who have not been exercising or eating correctly for years. It probably would zap the lbs. & inches right off. I would recommend they try it and see!
We bought it after seeing a program about the diet. We wanted to get the book and see what it was all about and if it really worked. After reading the diet book we tried to implement the stated steps as outlined in the chapters. It seems to work fairly well and the results are starting to show. We enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to change their lifestyle and improve their shape.
The "Flat Belly Diet" book is easy to read and following the guidelines of what to eat, when, is effective. The Four Day Quick Start is very pleasing to the scales. I lost 6 lbs. in those four days, alone! I believe I can follow the recipes to help keep my weight in check and lose when I need to. I would recommend this book.
If you have the time and patience to change your diet completely then this book is for you. I did not find this book to be user friendly. It's target audience would be women with families and there was no way my children or husband would consider eating the meals on the plan..I bought it because I just had twins a year ago and I now have a belly. I wanted to see if this book could help me.
I have not finished reading the book, but so far, I am pleased with it. They wrote in on a level we can understand - you do not have to be a doctor yourself to be able to get something out of this book. Being in my mid 40's losing weight has gotten harder and it seems this book is teaching me life changing way to not only lose weight but to become healthier. If you have the belly fat like it talks about I think it would do you great good to get your hands on this book be it from buying it or getting it out at your local library. You will learn from it. I am very pleased I paid the money for this one. Good-luck with your reading and hope you get as much out of it as I have.
