I really enjoy the quest/mission/rpg genres of video games, and this game is a perfect example. You begin with only a couple characters to battle with, but as you progress in your adventures, you acquire more companions to help you complete the missions. You have the freedom to choose which characters you'd like to use more and give them more fighting experience, so that you can level them up to become stronger fighters, faster swordmasters, craftier thieves, and tougher knights, among other titles. It's just an all around fun game you can play time and time again.

I bought this item for my 10 year old son. When asked as to how the item was, he tells me that it works fine. It was definitely a good investment.

My 12 year old kid likes it. It has everything a 12 year old wants. Stupidity, action, violence, simplicity, instant gratification. What more can I say?

I don't know anything about the game but my son wanted it. It has to be great because the first day he got it, he played all day and tried to play all night. When I got up the next morning, he was asleep on the couch with the game still on and in his hand.

I bought this because i liked fire emblem for the wii so much. however, when you downgrade in graphics and screen size, it's not as enjoyable as probably if i had started off playing the gba version. overall a nice strategy game

A Must For Any RPG Fan!

For me, this member of the Fire Emblem games is truly a joy to play. You get to work with a large variety of characters, from mages and monks wielding spells and magic, to paladins and archers flinging swords, lances, and arrows.

The graphics are of superb quality for such a compact system as the GBA, and the flow of the game runs smooth, though allowing you some choices on where you'd like to advance next.

One element of the games that can be both frustrating and challenging is the fact that when a character loses all of their hit points, they die, and can never be used in combat for the rest of the game. The good news is that you can restart the level over, thus saving your character, but you also lose whatever items and experience points you earned yourself from the previous try. This can be frustrating, but I'd rather redo a level than lose a character for the rest of gameplay.

There's a balance between weapons, some being strong than others. Also, the stronger the weapon, the lesser amount of times you can use it before it breaks, thus forcing the player to carefully consider what types of items to buy and equip their characters with.

My favorite part of this Fire Emblem installment is the fact that when your character is about to change classes, you have choices on what type of unit they can turn into. Many have special abilities or have an added weapon that they can use. It makes the game more complex and interesting.

Overall, I feel this is one of the best GBA games I've come across, and it's one I'm certainly addicted too.

Although Different From Other FE Games, Very Enjoyable

Some people point to this as the 'black sheep' of the Fire Emblem family. They have a point- it's very different from previous games, the length is shorter, and there are special areas to train units as opposed to just the usual maps.

However, the old fire emblem charm is here in spades, and the character supports are very enjoyable. I highly recommend this game!

  Well worth your money.
Review created: 12/05/07

If you are a fan of strategy RPG's (Shining Force, Disgaea, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc.) you should find this game well to your liking. I enjoy the detailed character portraits and fun battle animations along with the solid battle system Fire Emblem is known for.

As far as what I dislike, I can only really say I don't like playing it on such a small screen, but that's a personal opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

  Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

A good game but hard. Once a character dies; they're gone forever. So keep watch. But for me that was the fun part of the game. Simple yet deep gameplan kept me coming back to this title and I'll be back again in a few weeks to challnge hard mode. To bad you don't get to use your weak character often. It takes to long to build them up.

Overall: A good game that no stagiest should be without.

This is a really fun turn-based RPG, I highly recommend it. It is deep enough to keep you interested but not so involved that it is difficult to get into. The story line is pretty good and progresses at a moderate pace without being to slow while still maintaining some mystery. The only drawback of this game is that it is pretty linear.

  A very tough RPG

Fire Emblem is known for being very hard. What sets it apart from normal series is when a character dies, they are gone for good. So trying to beat the game, even on easy without loosing any characters. A guide of some sort is deffinently recomended if you want to get every character. A bit easier than the first GBA Fire Emblem only due to the fact you have much more freedom to level up. Overall a perfect RPG for the go.

  Another good Fire Emblem game

Compared to other turn based strategy titles, this series still stacks up with the best of them. My favorite of all time tactics game title is Final Fantasy Advance, this game plays in a similar fashion. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality story line of this title. I would also recommend other games in this series.

About as good as it gets...for Game Boy Advance
Review created: 03/07/07

Fire Emblem is turn based strategy game with decent graphics and an engaging storyline. You control numerous characters and upgrade them with weapons, armor, better spells and the usual RPG stuff. The controversial aspect of the game is if a character dies, he or she is DEAD for the rest of the game. No magic resurrection spells here. You either have to restart the level or continue playing and deal with the loss. Most players will replay a level until none of their characters die, so it can be a frustration or a challenge, depending on your point of view.

This game is a favorite if you're into stategy. It's a little like Advance Wars, with magic and swords instead of tanks and bombers. No Game Boy Advance or DS should be without it...until something better comes along.

One of the greatest game i've played alltemat rpg/skill

This game meets the line between strategy and rpg. what I love to see in games is the ability to gain levels. This game takes smarts and skill, but still hits the point where luck and strength still matter. complicated game that takes time to get the hang of. I would recomend this game to all people ages 10+ (hard to play without reading and difficult game that takes smarts). lets you chose to play as one of the 2 main characters.
story:10/10
grafics:6.5/10
fun:10/10
skill:10/10
dicacity:5-10/10 (game lets you play 3 levels of difficulty)

  Classic RPG Strategy Game
Review created: 12/04/06
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

If you are into old school RPG/Strategy games like the old Tactics Ogre and Shining Force, this is the game for you. I first ran into the Fire Emblem series on the Gamecube, in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and I liked it so much that I bought this one for the DS.

This game has addictive play, engaging characters, and a solid user interface. The sound is very good for a portable. If it lacks anything, it lacks innovation- Once you've played a couple dozen RPG/Strategy games, you've seen everything. Of course if you are an old school addict, that doesn't really matter, you just want to play another one.

The only serious weakness to the game is the imbalance between the two main characters; the game focuses too heavily on the sister, Princess Erikia, before the decision point where you choose which character to follow.

Regardless of its weaknesses, this game is thoroughly enjoyable, though it may be a little difficult for a beginner at strategy games. Characters that die are lost forever, as per the Fire Emblem series, and weapons decay and are destroyed in battle. The difficulty level makes it more appealing to strategy enthusiasts rather than the casual player. I had a challenge on normal difficulty the first run through, and there is a harder difficulty for me to play with once I come back around to play a second time.

Several big bonuses to this game: There is a mode that lets you skip all those annoying game tutorials, if you already have a good idea how to play these kinds of games. There is a tower that you can play through numerous times to power up weaker characters that you haven't been using. Seth. Maybe its the D&D player in me, but good looking red-haired paladin generals add to any RPG.

this is a great strategy RPG. it's one of those games that really sucks you in.

the primary difference this game has from others is that when your characters die they never come back. this can be kind of frustrating if it happens an hour into a long battle, but it makes you really think about every move.

This game provides hours and hours of fun for the strategy enthusiast. The only negative side to this game is that it is a bit similar to the first in many ways, however that isn't a bad thing if you are looking for continuation from the first. This is the second game in the Fire Emblem series.
