Larry Carlton is one of a number of guitarists who does a lot of studio work. In other words, he plays on a lot of recordings for other artists. One of his latest ventures is to replace Lee Ritenour in the group named Fourplay. This recording, obviously is his own. He has authored or co-authored nine out of the ten songs recorded here. To me, the sound of Larry's guitar is unique, sort of a trademark for him. His music fits into the category that many people term as "smooth jazz". I prefer to name it as "commercial jazz" because this is typical of the music play on commercial jazz radio...
