i only receantly got turned onto the Yeah Yeah Yeahs within the past year and i really love their style. they're in a category all they're own. i love the song Maps, obviously.. but there are a bunch of great ones like, Y Control and Modern Romance and No No No. i'd recommend it, everyone needs some time when they rock out to themselves!

Every song on this album is FANTASTIC. It's the beginning of greatness from the trio. When they came out there was no band that appealed to me like they did. Nick Zinner's electric guitar mixed with the heart pounding beats of Brain Chase's drums is the perfect sound to back up such random, howling vocals that Karen O produces in this album. Get it and see for yourself.

Boy Have I Got A Fever to Tell You About

Pros:
Maps! Yay. Black Tongue! Double yay! Fun to listen to, catchy songs, bonus track

Cons:
Some of the songs sound kind of the same

Ah, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Have you heard of them? If not, you re missing out. This CD is wonderful, and I m really glad I own it. I admit, I bought it because I love Maps, but I was really happy with the other songs on here too. The cover is quite interesting, as you can see by looking at the provided picture. The booklet is filled with other such interesting pictures, like a humongous snake pierced with a sword and a horse carrying a human hand. Well it s original. There is also a picture of each of the members, Karen O (vocals), Nick Zinner (guitars

Pros:
An Excellent, Sexy Debut from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Cons:
Loses a Bit of Momentum in last 1/3 of the Album.

Since the Strokes emerged out of the New York City music scene in late 2001, a new wave of NYC rock and garage rock emerged. 2002 was touted as the year of garage rock but the music really belonged to the Big Apple. The Mooney Suzuki, Interpol, Hot Hot Heat, and many others were giving NYC some regained attention as a great rock city after years of being overshadowed by its massive hip-hop scene. Many of the NYC bands have often credited the works of such NY greats as the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Television, Patti Smith, the Ramones, and Sonic Youth for keeping NYC alive in rock. Now in..

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs Prove to Be Worthy Of Their Hype (GASP)
Review created: 06/20/04
by: MattA75 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Karen O's vocals, Zinner's guitar playing, great songs

Cons:
may take a few listens to appreciate: other than that, nothing

I don't know much about the background of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I intentionally kept it that way. Quite frankly, for a band like this, the background isn't important. They've been lumped in with the "garage rock revival" thing, which is not only not fair to them, but it has also led to a ton of hype regarding this band. And if there is anything we've learned with regards to the whole "garage rock revival" thing, it's that the hype hasn't been worth its weight in musical gold. The Strokes? They're one of the best bands at writing the catchiest songs I have no desire to ever hear again. The...

Pros:
fun, energetic, but with little eccentricities too. and some unexpected nonsense

Cons:
some songs don't quite have the bite that others do

The. One of the most commonly used words in the English language ( okay is the most frequently spoken, if I m to believe TV commercials), and essential to our daily communication patterns. Probably. I mean, you use the word the without even thinking about it. I used it thrice in that opening sentence, for example. The thing is, to me it s a rather annoying word. I don t know why. Maybe something about the way it looks? Maybe that it s exceedingly easy to type teh instead of it on occasion? (Although if you re a net teenager then that s the preferred method of spelling, I understand.) So for...

Tom says Yeah to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell (his 300th review!)

Pros:
It's just awesome.

Cons:
Kinda short?

Please disregard the text of this review. My views on music have changed in recent months. Granted, this is still a pretty good record. Perhaps I've just been getting too excited about bands lately- the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have seriously blown me away. Once I read a very positive review from MattA75, a man I generally trust (with the exception of his opinion of the Hives), I knew there had to be something good about them. So yesterday, I walked into a Border's Books and Music store in Cleveland, where you can listen to this stuff for free, and I bought the CD right away. And I blasted that music..
