Family Guy - Volume 1: Seasons 1 & 2 (2003, DVD)

Seth McFarlane's Family Guy is the funniest show on television - and it has been for years. Its quickly developed a cult following that is stronger and larger than the Simpsons'. The Family Guy aired on Fox in 1999 immediately following the Super Bowl and received wild attention - though not positive - among the media for its raunchiness and controversial material. After Fox's cancellation in 2002, the Family Guy Season 1 was released on DVD in 2003 and has been wildly successful since. Two years later, the Family Guy DVD is still in high demand on eBay (where it can be purchased for a fraction of the $49.99 retail price) and its still in the top 100 list on Amazon.com. The Family Guy Season 1 DVD was so successful, a subsequent DVD was released and the show was re-picked up on Fox and currently airs on Sunday Nights.

The Family Guy follows the Griffins who live in Quahog, Rhode Island and appear to be a normal suburban family. The specific Griffins are each unique: The father Peter Griffin is fat, lazy, raunchy and a simpleton (think Homer Simpson). Daughter Meg Griffin is a homely, unsophisticated 15-year old. Chris Griffin is a 13-year old version of his father. Baby Stewie is a sophisticated big-thinker with plans to overtake the world - the only problem is that only his dog Brian can hear him. Brian on the other hand drinks martinis, dates women, and reeks of sarcasm.

The true humor within Family Guy is the writing. Seth McFarlane has a knack for social commentary and sarcasm - attacking anything relevant to current events, pop culture, or the likes... and he does so in on-the-border / is-it-offensive? manners. If you can make it through a single episode without laughing aloud - you must not have a funny bone in the body!

It's Family Guy... come on. You can't get any better than that. Nothing wrong with this at all. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to "laugh and cry".

I bought Family Guy Vol. 1 A few weeks ago and Im glad i did. It is the start of one of the best tv shows on tv today. Seasons one and two show some of the most rude and crude humor that i love to watch. If you watch alot of tv shows and movies than you will get most of the jokes that go on in this volume. Long live Family Guy!!

I won a bid on a set of Family Guy DVDs. They were shipped quickly and came in very very good condition. The only difference between these and new is I didnt buy a much as I would have in a store and no plastic wrap on the outside. Other than that they are in like new condidtion no scratches or marks of any kind on any of the DVD excellent purchase

This DVD set contains Season 1 and 2 of Family Guy. Family Guy is quite possibly the funniest show ever!

I work evenings so I rarely get to see sitcoms. My son told me about family guy and we watched it one night. I immediately became a fan. What a family. A genius baby and a alcoholic dog that talks and is given human responsibility. The show seemed to pull a little crumb from almost every sitcom about families that I have ever seen. I really enjoy laughing and waiting for the next shocking incident.

If you love friends, you will love this dvd set. this is where it all begun. this dvd collection of the first 2 seasons of friends will keep the memory of this great series alive forever.

my son whated it for christmas. He love watching on tv has not seen some of the show at the beginning of the season. No reason dislike the dvd his friend and him watches them all the time

Great show, but its more directed towards the mid-teens and up (pre-teens are pushing it). Remember context and content in this show is the key, a lot of adult jokes are made, but is great (if your an adult and understand the jokes).

Compared to more recent seasons, this one is much less intense and more on the safe side. I wanted to complete my collection of the series.

this alone has to be one of the best adult oriented cartoon shows I've ever seen, i always liked the Simpson's but this is just that much better

what i love about family guy is how great the spoofs are.and how belly busting the scences are. i like how the people recall things they said and they make a scene for the past things they have done. its so sick and hilarious and unexpected...you should love all the inside jokes and cutting edge humor. nothings tabo and thats what i love about family guy.....tooooo funny....completly halarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! worth every penny...love it...5 star...its what we all think but only family says and does. this dvd set will turn your bad day into a great evening.

It's a gift,so I don't know how well it plays. It's was wrapped well, looks like it is in good condition.
I won't consider this seller again because of the changes I had to go through to get the item. They don't offer alternate shipping and thats a headache.

i love every season of family guy, but this edition will probably get the most for your money since it's got a larger number of episodes than the other sets. the humor changes and progresses as the seasons get older, but these earlier ones are still funny.

I saw a couple of episodes of Family Guy on t.v. and thought it was hilarious. I wanted to see the show from the beginning to learn more about each character. Seth Farlane is a genious. The episodes get better and better. He reminds me of the Far Side's Gary Larson. Adult themed.
