In the end I did receive the cd I ordered, but it was a strange process. First I was sent the wrong cd. I contacted the seller and there was no remorse on his part for having made the mistake. He asked me to send him the cd and papers from the wrong cd, and told me he would reimburse me for my mailing costs. The correct cd was awhile in coming, and he did not reimburse my mailing costs at all, and refused to answer my emails about it. The correct cd and papers were enclosed, but he used the same envelope I had which had 'return to sender' written on it and the postage scratched out, and the envelope did not look opened or resealed at all, very strange. In the end I got my cd, and it is in a good condition, but I was not reimbursed my mailing costs when I was told I would be and so paid for mailing twice, an his attitude wasn't in the least helpful. This guy is shady; buy at your own risk.

Founding Fathers of the rock Anthem, Lep comes back in Style

Pros:
Amazing Anthem Rock Ballads, great guitar work, amazing harmonies

Cons:
Always weak song writing

Down and up on their luck all at once Def Leppard is known as one of the hardest luck bands of all time. They are frustratingly talented, fun, the music varies from mindless party drivel to towering and powerful rock ballads. They were one of the primary bands who formed the true meaning of the phrase "power ballad". They did it again and again, with songs like Photograph, Gods of War, White Lightening and now on their latest release, Paper Sun. The ballads were a often a reflection of what and who they were - the pain that they were enduring and the far flying culture that they were helping..

Let's do the time warp again....

Pros:
Hysteria-styled pop rock with a dash of their old-school metal influence. Divine!

Cons:
The fact that they didn't have the courage to stick behind the direction of 'Slang'

Ah, I remember it fondly. The year was 1999. Bon Jovi s Crush was still a year away. Rap rock was vying with Britney Spears for airwave dominance. Except for the tragically now-defunct Buckcherry, no band was doing REAL rock and roll anymore. All looked lost. Then, it happened. I heard that unmistakable guitar riff. I heard reverse drum-shots. Sounded all the world to me like Photograph . But something was different because this was a different song. That song was Promises from Def Leppard s 1999 release Euphoria . Promises was about as much of a time warp of a song as one can possibly think.

  It's Hysteria-meets-Pyromania-meets-Adrenalize-meets....

Pros:
The Def Leppard groove is back, the melodies are memorable.

Cons:
I still liked the "Slang" sound, too many slow ones.

After flopping with 1996's extremely brilliant "Slang", Def Leppard returned to their roots in 1999. The template for "Euphoria" was an attempt to re-create the glory years of "Hysteria" and "Pyromania" while still sounding as relevant as possible. Back came the layered guitars and harmonies, the catchy choruses and the 'deep and meaningless' lyrics. I will admit that I went into this album with a very closed mind - I frankly didn't expect much. When you listen to album opener, 'Demolition Man', you can't help but admire the fast, electric assault, the superb bridge and catchy chorus. ...

Pros:
Catchy hooks, sterling production

Cons:
too many ballads, rockers break no new ground

I just heard that Def Leppard is prepping a new album for release later this year, so I figured I'd write a retrospective review of "Euphoria" even though it's almost 3 years old now, and besides I never make money off these reviews anyway. "Euphoria" finds Def Leppard licking its wounds from the commercial and critical failure of their last album, "Slang", which was their attempt at being Serious Artists. Sure, "Slang" went Gold (500k units) and garnered some favorable critical feedback, but for a band that's sold something like 25 million albums in the U.S. alone it's the equivalent of a...

  How do they do it?

Pros:
Intense Musical Experience

Cons:
none that I can think of

I can't believe that Def Leppard can still be this good after all these years. I am a die-hard fan from the beginning and love all of their music, even the stuff that the critics hated. They've had all kinds of problems and tragedies, but still come rockin' through it. Euphoria is a great work, with excellent music to appeal to both old fans, and new ones. Speaking of new fans, this seems to be appealing to a whole new crowd. In my area, the first single, "Promises" was played heavily on the local top 40 radio station. It took some getting used to, to hear Def Leppard being played between the.
