Joe Satriani and electronica. Do they mix? For the most part, yes. There are a lot of electronic beats on this one, but he plays around them in fine fashion. "Devil's Slide" starts this one off and is a classic example of his ability to create exciting, original riffs. "Borg Sex" is a very playful number and is more electronic-oriented, but very enjoyable just the same. "Attack" is a very cool song that hearkens back to the good old days of shred. "Clouds Race Across the Sky" is another in his famous repetoire of beautiful, slower numbers and has a great ambient feeling to it. "Champagne" is a great slide number. Overall, this is definitely not his best work, but very worthy of praise as it can easily blow away most music that is out there today. As a side point, this is a great album for fans of the band Praxis, as it provides a good balance of good-old shred and thumping beats. Listen to this one a few times and it will grow on you. I guarantee.
Impressionante nella composizione, nella precisione, nella scelta dei nuovi timbri musicali e nella fantasia dei riff di chitarra superlativi : è l'album della svolta stilistica di Satriani del nuoco millenio.Da non perdere.

Pros: Until We Say Goodbye, his impeccable skill
Cons: The most jolting stylistic change since Pat Boone's No More Mr. Nice Guy
Joe Satriani has been astounding guitarists and non-guitarists alike since the mid '80s. He's one of the few instrumental musicians these days that can still be considered influential. His music has appeared in movies, commercials, and all over the radio for years. He's a hero to thousands of guitarists all around the world who cherish every one of his albums and study them like crib sheets, learning how to play each and every note. His technique is impeccable. His creative abilities are unmatched in the world of rock guitar. His influence? Immeasurable. Given all that, I have to ask one...

Pros: It's great! Check it out!
Cons: 2 tracks suck
This CD makes me feel like I've been electrocuted. But I mean that in a good way. Let me explain further. Track one is called; Devil's Slide. Okay. Okay. I don't care for this track. It's too dark. It's too depressing. That is it makes me feel depressed. And it's too damn fast. I give this track an F. The second track is called Flavor Crystal 7. Obviously it's about Satriani's experience while drinh Kool Aid Or High-C. I can visualize a surfer catching a perfect wave on a Californian beach someware. This song rocks! I give this tr4ack an A-. The next track is titled. Borg Sex. I guess this.

Pros: The Master in his element.
Cons: Often inappropriate rhythm sections.
'Engines of Creation' is the latest studio album from guitar legend, Joe Satriani. Once more, faithful Ibanez in hand, Joe sets about making us mere mortals look at our clumsy fingers in disgust. This time out, he offers us 12 tracks of psychedaelic guitar to a trip-hop beat. Not your everyday, run-of-the-mill Satriani album then, eh? Those familiar with Joe's long legato phrasing and intricate melodys will feel at ease initially, although it is quite a departure from the rock-driven 'surf' songs of previous albums, a departure that was hinted at with 'Crystal Planet' (the album before this...
