Part 2 of The Inheritance Series

I normally do not sit down and read books, as I am not an avid reader, but this was a pleasant exception. I read this book from start to finish in just a few days and I simply loved every minute of it. It is the 2nd book in The Inheritance Trilogy, and the sequel to Eragon. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys the Fantasy/Adventure genre of books, particularly people who enjoy dragon books. Read Eragon first, and then read Eldest. You wont regret it.

I really long war sequence. Took long times with Eragon Traveling, so if your not in the mood for reading travel sequences then I suggest you read something else, however The ones in Eldest weren't that bad. Eldest is longer than Eragon, and I like that how most authors do that instead of cutting down. This is a good book to read if your interested in Lord of the Rings, If your also a Harry Potter fan then you might also enjoy this book. It took me a while to get interested in Eragon though after switching from Harry Potter.

Eldest - Follows Up The Excellence That Was Eragon
Review created: 05/03/08

I'll be the first to admit: This book is not for everyone. In fact, some people hate it with every fiber of their being.

HOWEVER, if you're someone looking for a fun tale, or if you enjoy reading anything about dragons, magic or fantasy in general, you will love this book.

If you're looking for something deep and intelligent, go find Ian McEwan or something. But if you liked Harry Potter, Eragon and Eldest are for you!

  Young in years, old soul
Review created: 03/29/08

I don't usually read this type of venue, however when Eragon was given to me, I swept through is like a starving person. I am dumb founded over the fact that Christopher Paolini was 15 when he published his first "chapter" in his saga. He continues the saga with the Eldest. The fact that the books have so many pages is forgotten. The time melts away. Well written, imagination off the charts. So involved; with all of the separate lives running through the book and converginging at a point in time. And still Christopher is not old enough to vote. A good read for any age. I await the next visit to Paolini's world in September of this year.

  A good read.
Review created: 02/10/08

After seeing the Eragon movie I read the first book and it was not like the movie. However, it did leave you hanging in mid air. I was so pleased that I had bought Eldest at the same time.

Although it was written towards a young age as an adult I enjoyed the book very much and caught myself reading well into the night a couple of times. The caricatures are very believable and the interaction is handled well. Having multiple stories going at the same time and at the end weaving them together was done with some skill but not with the finesse you might expect from a better seasoned writer. You cannot read Eldest without reading the first book (Eragon) first or you will never understand what and why things are happening in the story line.

I am looking forward to the third book comming out later in 2008. I have already preordered it.

A good book, but not as intriguing as the first...

Eldest is a good book, but I thought it was much slower paced than its preceeding book, Eragon. No matter, it's still a good book. I'd still recomend it if you want to find out what happens if you read Eragon. In fact, this book contains a few unexpected surprises!!! A book worth reading.

#1 book (until the next one comes out). I am in love with Eragon and his cousin. In this book Eragon and Saphira have come a long way with most interesting lessons on different cultures, magic, and tough fights against evil.
Eragon's cousin, Rowan, is most courageous! I love all the characters and adventure. Cannot wait until the next book hits the selves.
This is definately a book you could read over again!

Where Eragon leaves off Eldest continues to sweep you along in a wonderful, vivid world of elves, dwarves, dragons and other mysterious creatures in a battle so epic that two books can not complete the whole story! Paolini's writing is seemless and fluid, with such detail that I can see exactly what he is describing in my imagination as I am reading the story as it unfolds before me. I can not wait for Book 3!

  Great book, better price
Review created: 02/16/07

I like to get used books. It is cheaper and it gives me a chance to see how others like it before I spend a fortune on something I may not like. I like to use half.com and ebay to flesh out my collection and to weed out things that I don't want to read again.
