I first rented this film back in the early 90's and loved it. It was so real, the actors were great and Rosa's innocence was believable. I still recommend this film to people. When I began looking to buy this video/dvd I found it wasn't availble in the U.S. But I never thought to look outside the U.S.! I logged onto Amazon's waiting list, nothing. Then one day I was looking for darkroom equipment on Ebay and checked out the video/dvd's and saw El Norte for sale!! I watched it the day it arrived. I still enjoy watching it and can't wait to share it with friends that haven't seen it. This is now part of my permanent dvd collection!

El Nortebeautifully filmed; great acting, you will laugh and you will cry!!! A pity is still not on DVD... Very up to date plot, real and to the point. A must!!! No negative comments on the production nor the the acting.

I used to watch this flick repeatedly in high school, mainly as a history lesson on why so many Mexicans and Central Americans have been caught jumping over the Rio Grande more than once, and some slip through the net.
