I love all of Eleanor Burns' quilt books and this one lives up to what I expected from it. It is a 1930's Vintage Sampler quilt book and she has included some great patterns. My favorite is the Double Wedding Ring Quilt. I love patchwork quilts and this book has some beautiful examples. I missed purchasing it when it first came out and was so glad to find it.
I love almost everything that Eleanor writes or does on TV and this was no exception. The book had a couple of pattern pieces gone but the seller did not know this..I am sure...otherwise the book was like new and I have enjoyed it thouroughly!
Just what I was looking for. Eleanor Burns is a great example of Quilt makers. She is so easy to understand and always so in depth. I never come away from a program or a book she has presented with not knowing what my project will be like at the finished end.
It has beautiful colored pages. The instructions are easy to read and I like the fact that it is spiral bound. The pages lay flat ,so you don't get folds or creased pages. I think it is one of Elenar Burns' best quilt books.
I bought the book because I love quilts. I think the caption on the book was a little misleading about recipes and quilt stores from the 40's and 50's. There aren't that many. Overall it is a nice book with clear directions on making the quilts as well as full size templates.
I bought this quilt book because my quilt guild is using some of the patterns for our block of the month projects. I am very glad I bought it! There are some wonderful patterns and most are not difficult. The spiral binding is super, I wish more quilt books would do that. I like the history and extra information included. If you use your imagination you could make some wonderful quilts using more modern style fabrics...not just reproduction fabrics. It's a super quilt book and a must have for serious quilters, a staple in any quilt pattern collection and sure to become a classic in the world of quilting.
I love every thing about this book In fact I loved it so much I order the CD of it .Quilter out there if you love Quilting it is a must have,LOVE IT LOVE IT
I love this book, it has all the punch out templates and quilting templates for the quilt design's in the book. I think it's on of the better quilt book's on the market right now. Every pattern in the book is explained in detail, fabric supplies etc. I couldn't have purchased a better book than this. Eleanor Burns book's are really the very best to purchase if you are a beginner quilter!
My wife is learning to quilt; this book was ordered to help her. The book was in excellent condition and was sent in a timely manner. I would recommend buying through Half.com to everyone.
I love this quilting book, it has fantastic step by step pictures to help those of us who need a visual. It also has lots of charts on how big to make different quilts. It has pop out templates in the back which I also like. Another great thing is it has little projects you can make using the different quilt blocks you are learning how to do.
I met Ms. Burns in the past and have met her sister, Pat many times. They write great books with fantastic directions. Worth every penny everytime. Sandy
I'm sorry that I will not be able to review this book. The company that sold it is no longer an ebay member and has gone out of business without delivering the book to me. Rich
I purchased a quilting book on ebay. I had found the book in local quilt shops and was shocked at the cost. I was very pleased with the amount I paid on Ebay! I was even more surprised, upon receiving the book, of the condition. Unlike some books, this one was published with quilt patterns and templates to be torn out and used. The book was completely in tack, nothing had been removed. I was totally satisfied with my purchase. Thanks Ebay!
This is by far the best quilt information I have ever purchased! It is all about the 1930's. She is very delightful and entertaining to listen to and watch. With every quilt block lesson, she changes into a different apron made in the thirties and tells a wonderful story about it. As she is going through the instruction, she tells stories about life in the 1930's. She talks about how people lived, what they wore, life in the depression era, and lots of history. She also has many examples of original quilts made in the thirties and the history and stories behind them. By following her methods, you can literally make, a quilt in a day! I have watched the DVD at least four times and loved it! This is not counting the numerous times I have brought it to friends houses to view as well. I also bought her rulers on Ebay and her book on her website. One definitley needs the book for yardage information. I would suggest anyone who wants to learn the latest and greatest methods of quilting to buy this DVD. Its fantastic!
