Dyson DC18 Allergy Bagless Upright Vacuum

When I first received the box in the mail. I was struggling with opening it because of the size. BUT after reviewing the reviews online again I excitedly opened it. This is an awesome vacuum. We had a kenmore canister and Ive been wanting a dyson for sometime. Ive tried some of the other models the ball (I like the steering but thought it was hard to push), the other models seemed hard to steer but big and clunky) so I decided to go with the dc18 SLIM.

The vacuum is a great size. Its smaller size fits easily into the closet. Its not hard to push or steer. It easily fit into tight spots like under and around the kitchen chairs. It is easy to turn and maneuver similar to the dyson ball. Was also easy to put together. It has great suction. I saw items along the base board that the vac was sucking up and it was still 1/2" to an inch away! My old vac I would have to vacuum along the baseboard with the wand.

The brush attachment works wonders to clean the base boards! Super. And the other attachment I used for the mattress and it seems to work fine there. Would be nice if that attachment was a little bigger and wider. And I wish it had come with a dusting brush. But I would rather buy attachments that I need than to have a piece of junk with 20 attachments.

The extenstion wand is easy to remove and use although I thought the hose was a little too tight as my arm was getting tired trying to stretch it out to the window sills. But then I would complain if it was too lose right? Maybe will get a little easier down the road... Then my arm was a little tired as Im not used to the weight of an upright as Ive had a canister for many years. So see what you think.

Overall, I think the dc18 is a fantastic vacuum that cleans very very well. I couldnt believe what it had picked up in one use! I really felt like I was CLEANING and could see the results. I love that. If I could afford it I would buy one for my mother and sisters as well. Could use a little help in the attachments and definately a little longer cord. I would buy this over any of the bigger clunkier dysons I tried any day of the week.

I decided to purchase a Dyson vacuum cleaner when my sister used her Dyson to clean my house and the cup that holds the dirt had to be emptied three times during the cleaning. I had just vacuumed my house the night before with an expensive vacuum cleaner that I owned and never dreamed it was not picking up. I was shocked to see that the Dyson had a much stronger suction and this vacuum cost less that the one I used the night before she cleaned. The only thing I would change would be to make the cord longer.

We like the swivel head. We paid more for it than we usually would for a vacuum, but I am glad we did. It picks up things that my old vacuum never picked up.

Easy to use. Not too loud. Seems to pick up more than other vacuums I have owned. While it was a bit costly it seems to be well worth the money thus far.

I bought the Dyson about a month ago because everyone raves about it and I'm now way more conscious of how clean the floor is because my little one is starting to crawl. It's amazing how clean the floors are using the Dyson. I cleaned with my old vac and then this one and there was a lot of stuff that my old vac was missing. Don't be fooled by the "Slim." It's still a very heavy vacuum and I hate having to carry it up and down our stairs. I also don't like that there isn't a place on the vacuum to store all of the attachments. Overall, it was a great purchase but time will tell.

This vacuum has much more suction than the lightweight model we previously used. The head will turn on a dime due to the design and the canister cleans easily. The tools are self contained and the hose pulls out of the handle for use where the vacuum cleaner will not reach. Great Warranty and design!

This vacuum is awesome. I've had the vacuum for about a month now. I was skeptical to pay so much for a vacuum at first, and all the hype made me think my expectations were too high, but wow. This is a great vac. The Dyson DC18 definitely does a great job of sucking up dirt and lint and hair and debris and crap. Everytime I vacuum, I am always so amazed at how it manages to find so much dirt even though I had just vacuumed the week before. The side-ways maneuvering is a little strange at first, but I guess I'll probably get used to it. It came with a bunch of attachments, but i think only 2 can be stored ON the vacuum itself. I keep the rest in a shoebox. Great buy overall!

We have never owned a btter vacuum. We have been through the best of Hoover, Kenmore and Dirt Devil...none of which can compare to the Dyson. Highly recommend.

I really love this vacuum! It is light enough to pick up easily, picks up more than my older vacuum did, and is easy to empty, and the price was right. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Love the compact & light weight & suction. Love convient adjustable parts. Hate it falls over a lot, & hate it has a short power cord.. The suction & no more buying paper bags out weighs the short cord. I added an extesion cord to solve the problem. I believe after it is used more the hose will loosen and it will no longre fall over. Would buy another Dyson.

I was looking for something lighter to lift and still clean well. I really like the way the head turns and the weight of this cleaner. The thing I don't like is when you use an attachment you have to "take it apart" to attach and all attachments are not on board the cleaner.
I'm happy with this cleaner other than the attachment problem.

Great vacuum that never needs a bag. The vacuum is lighweight and powerful and has all the attachments attached to the vacuum. The vacuum is quieter than the previous vacuum that we had. I like the way the vacuum manuvers around furniture. I would buy another vacuum from Dyson. Thanks.

I love everything about my Dyson Vaccuum so far!! It is an amazing and beautiful machine! One feature that I love about the slim model that I purchased is the size of the bottom of the vaccuum itself. It can fit under really low and narrow pieces of furniture. I also love how the head of it turns with a small movement of the wrist, rather than having to turn your body to adjust the direction of the vaccuum. I love how it cleans better than any other machine I have used before. I also really like how it seems to be a very low maintainance machine. The fact that I can just wash the filter rather than having to go out and buy or order a new one is a really nice feature. All in all, this machine rocks and I will never again in my life buy another vaccuum other than a Dyson. It's worth every penny!

I had looked at the Dyson models when they first came out. I turned away from them because of the weight of the vacuum. Upon seeing the Slim and lightweight model I though I would give it a try. I am extremely happy with the vacuum. It was very easy to put together, didn't even need directions (and no I am not a guy). I cleaned my whole house and found the vacuum to do an excellect job. It was easy to manuver and light enough to carry upstairs and back again. Thank you for making a lighter weight model. Haven't used the onboard tools yet, but I am sure I will be just a happy.

This is the best vacuum I've purchased in years! I've had everything from expensive Hoovers to cheap Dirt Devils and I like this one the best. It has a lot of power and is easy to manuver around furniture. Even my husband likes to use it. I also have a cleaning lady and she has said that her next vacuum is going to be a Dyson. We've had this vacuum for quite a few months now and it has met all of our expectations. I highly recommend it.

I was hesitant to purchase the DC18 after reading many on-line reviews and articles. But, when I read the reviews of the actual buyers of it, they all loved it. So. I went with the buyers opinion, rather than the nit picking magazine suggestions.

The buyers were right! Its a great vacuum to use on hard floors, steps, and for getting around tight areas. Its way ahead of the other brands for ease of emptying and attaching attachments as well.

If there's a better vacuum out there, who cares! This one feels and works so much better than the other monster vacs.

There is no vacuum quite like a Dyson...my parents have a DC07 and love it...so when I finally got the DC18, I already knew what to expect...everything from the easy assembly right out of the box...to the fact that I vacuumed up all kinds of dirt even though the carpet had been vacuumed just a day or so before with the old hoover...The DC18's lightweight form factor and ability to go around corners and under tables with great ease make it a vacuum that anybody would surely be pleased with for years to come...if you're thinking about getting a Dyson, do it...you will not be dissapointed...

The sweeper is super lightweight and does so much. I can't believe how well it cleans. I love it!!!

CLEANS ALL SURFACES NICELY. I HAVE CARPET AND HARDWOOD FLOORS AND WITH EASE I AM ABLE TO VACUUM BOTH. ZERO EFFORT NEEDED TO CARRY UPSTAIRS.

I love this Dyson! We use it almost every day and it does a great job picking up all the cat hairs around the house! It has very strong suction! It is collecting 3times more dirt than our older vacuum cleaner! It is much lighter as well so stairs are not a problem anymore.. Very easy to maneuver and reach under chairs and other objects, because of the small head. I also like that I can buy different brushes. It is easy to clean: you just push a button and the bottom of the can opens to release all the dirt into the trash can! For people with allergies (like my husband) it is a great vacuum cleaner, because it circles the air through a HEPA filter and does not release any particles back in the room. Love it! Next purchase will be the mini Dyson for the car!

Love my vacuum. My husband and I fight who is going to vacuum next. You will be entirely grossed out the first time you clean the tank because you won't believe the amount of dirt it sucks up even if you vacuum all the time like we do. It is easy to store and easy to use. We had done our research on a good vacuum, someone told us to look into a Dyson. I hear if you have pets it is great, we don't have pets but we have two kids. Now I am totally comfortable with them on the floor. Definitely recommend.

After extensive researching several brands and models, I chose the DC 18. The day it arrived, I put it to the test. We have a combination of hardwood, tile, and carpeted floors and the vacuum performed flawlessly. The rotating ball took a bit of getting used to, but now I really like the way it handles around objects and corners. The household air actually smells cleaner than before vacuuming - amazing! Though this DC 18 is the lighter weight, slim model it's still fairly heavy. That said, I really had no problem pushing it around the house. I love the way the dust bin empties; I just took it out to the trash and pushed the button. The difference between the Dyson and our prior vacuum (a Hoover Elite upright), is like night and day. This Dyson is definitely worth the $$! I only with we had bought it sooner. :-)

Professional cleaners need a vacuum that is light enough to load and unload, has attachments that can be readily accessed, and can clean up animal hair quickly and efficiently. I have used just about every vacuum made, and this one is the best! It's twice the weight of the Oreck or the Riccar, but I can clean a floor in much less time. The only drawback is that it tends to tip over, but I make it a point to stand it up next to a wall or couch, and always make sure that it won't fall on glass or fragile items. My customers are really happy with it. One of them told me it looked like her carpets had just been cleaned. I wish the company would allow those of us who use it all day, to be authorized dealers. I could sell one to each one of my clients. They love it, and so do I.

It's the best vacuum I've ever used; you wouldn't believe the dirt it gets up. I highly recommend any Dyson product!
