This cd is very catchy. I highly recommend this cd. I got it for a friend and have borrowed it a few times. I may have to buy one of my own!

Re- purchase of CD, "Dutty Rock" by Sean Paul
Review created: 04/10/07

I did not receive the CD "Dutty Rock" by Sean Paul as the seller contacted me after I was notified that I had won it and informed me that it was being pulled out of the sale, and if I didn't like it, I could just lump it!

  Dancehall CD

Sean Paul stays true to his style! This cd is a great buy! This cd is full of hits and style. Sean Paul gives the listener a full plate. One of my favorite hits off of this cd is Hot, Sexy, Punkie (Espanol). Although, he is Jamaican and proud, he shows his Latino roots on this hit. I enjoyed the intros and the flow of this cd. Each song meshes together well. This cd is destined to be a foundational dancehall cd for Sean Paul. Not only that, but also it allowed him to crossover to the mainstream (American audience). This cd is pure fire!!

Pros:
This is the real deal - more club tracks than you can count.

Cons:
To be unreasonably fastidious - not every track is five stars.

While hip-hop is practically finished merging with pop, the next trend is busy just starting to infiltrate the clubs. Dancehall is a relatively new vibratious genre that has evolved from reggae and it is still trying to find an identity amidst the multitude of limp efforts by various dancehall artists. As of right now, I am convinced that Sean Paul is dancehall; he represents everything that is attractive about it and ignores everything that is not. Sean s music might be leaning too close to pop and hip-hop for real dancehall aficionados to appreciate but this man simply brings his own flava..

A Review of Dutty Rock by Sean Paul from a Hip-Hop Head's perspective

Pros:
Memorably Catchy Beats, some good lyrics, Hip-Hop / Reggae Fusion, actual GOOD Club Songs

Cons:
A lot of songs are crappy, Difficult to understand Sean Paul

A lot of idiots on this web site have had the nerve to say that im biased and that i automatically praise or diss something from an artist depending on their lyrical ability, their status (commercial / underground), or whether i like them or not. No, Big D is not biased towards any artist, and im going to prove it. MajaFiggaz and Anthony are indeed correct when they say that just because something is commercial doesn't mean it sucks, BUT, keep in mind that 95% of commercial rap is trash, no matter what. There are some exceptions, which brings me to Sean Paul. Sean Paul isn't exactly a Canibus.

Pros:
It's Sean Paul.

Cons:
Some bad songs, Can't understand Sean Paul

For the past few years Sean Paul has been known in the reggae industry with his debut album "Stage One". He had several hits with his first album, but he wasn't really famous/really known. Then he released his second album, "Dutty Rock" last year. This album definitely put him on the spot containing 3 hits. Gimme The Light was his first single. It was a catchy, overplayed song that had an irresistible hook. It's obvious he's talking about women. The beat is just infectious and it just makes you wanna dance. The remix with Busta Rhymes is even better as Busta adds his own little flava to it....

I might never take another shower, I love being dutty so much

Pros:
Tight beats, irresistable melodies, loops, and lyrics. All that PLUS the Neptunes!

Cons:
Intro/outro/inter-o skits are kinda lame. But I always think that's the case.

I bought Dutty Rock on a whim shortly after a winter vacation in Jamaica, where Sean Paul seemed to be on repeat loop on the radio. When radio/video play of Gimme the Light and Get Busy started up here in the States, I couldn't resist the purchase, but more for nostalgia than cause. I expected to hear the two hot jams getting air time and a whole lot of trash, but trash that would take my mind's eye back to hot sun, hotter pork jerky, and cold Carib. Instead I got one of the greatest CDs I've ever purchased. First, the genre. As explained to me by my driver on a twisty and breathtaking cross..

Paul Reignites Popular Reggae in the U.S.
Review created: 01/10/04
by: sinkfaze -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
The best tracks are danceable to the point of being addictive.

Cons:
The back end of the album could almost be ignored save a couple tracks.

Sean Paul is the international golden boy. A renowned athlete with an amazing academic record in his native Jamaica, he chose instead to pursue his love of music in the dancehalls, where he also proved himself a masterful DJ. After a string of successful singles in Jamaica and sporadic appearances in the U.S., he decided to formally step onto the international stage with 'Dutty Rock'. One hopes his future music is this gracious. What distinguishes him from other reggae leeways into the U.S. scene is that his music is not viewed as a side act to someone else(as with Shaggy, for example). This..
