The book explores an eerie stretch of Florida coast where Edgar Freemantle has come to build his life after an accident that cost him his arm and head injuries that leave him prone to uncontrollable rages and memory lapses. He ends up in Duma Key only because his Dr. felt he needed a change of place, a geographical cure. Edgar hopes that while here in Duma Key he can pick up the painting he use to love in his younger years. What he discovers, is that his talent is more powerful than he remembered. By that, it means that the things he paints become real! He also discovers that if he removes something from a painting, it will disappear in real life. Even people. He finally realizes that his newfound abilities are somehow tied to his elderly landlady, Elizabeth, but when the ghost of her past begin to appear, the real truth about his talent becomes quite terrifying. Now he must deal with the dark side of his talent.

The book was good. I would'nt say one of his best ones but definitely readable. The condition of the book was excellent, like new. I bought it on ebay because the price at the local bookstore was too high. I got it at a fraction of its retail cost

I am a diehard Stephen King fan, so my review might be a little biased. I'm not finished with the book, I've got about 50 pages left to go, but I've gotten the general idea and I think anyone could pick this book up and enjoy it, regardless if you've been into SK books before.

At first I didn't like how in the first chapter the main character's life falls apart, I thought it gave the story an immediately negative tone that I didn’t understand that because it wasn't so much a scary feeling, but a sad one. If you feel this way too I urge you to keep reading. You'll find out why it’s necessary to start off on such a violent and sad beginning once you get near the end. Like all of SK's post-millennia work, the intricacy of the story will capture and amaze you. And, most importantly, give you a good scare.

I decided to buy it because I ran out of time trying to get it from the library. I liked it so much I decided to buy it!

Classic Stephen King. The details are wonderful. You can't help but relate to one of the characters. I couldn't put it down once I had started reading.

This particular transaction was easy and trouble free. In this case it depends on the seller, not on Ebay.
However, Ebay's searching system is bad and inconvenient. Before changing the policy Ebay stores was visible, not a buyer has to check the certain box to see Ebay stores' items. Not every potential buyer is Computer experienced, they have no idea they have to check some box to see the stores. Secondly, this "best match" drives me crazy. I changed my settings for "Search options" and when I'm sign in SOMETIMES it works: when I'm searching for something it is in "ending soon" order. But not all the time. They system shows me "Best match" even though my setting is for "ending soon". And, of course, if I am not sign in, the "best match" is a default. And while I am wasting my time for the "best match" and their products are not for me (however, their "service" is on top) the right product is gone.

I purchased this item as a gift for my mother. She loves Stephen King. I was so pleased with the purchase and the quick shipment. I felt like I had just left one of the high, pricy bookstores! As much as my family likes to read, I will definitely look here first before going anywhere else. Thank you!

I would rather spend the time having the collywobbles... this book just goes on and on and on and on and on... just tell the story and stop with the filler crap! The book is like 200 pages tooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long!
Stick to the story stop going off on a chapter (example) as to why someone wears bobby bins as opposed to clips... it was so boring... it became confussing and stupid.

I'm a big fan of Stephen King and was glad to see him back in stride with Duma Key. I liked it a lot better than Cell. This is the first book he's written about Florida (apparently, he winters there!) And though it is strange to read him outside of New England and Maine, I thought it worked. The story is interesting and the characters are wonderful. I have no hesitation recommending this book. It reminded me a little of Bag of Bones. Enjoy!

Stephen King is at his best in this chilling and thrilling novel. At over 600 pages this novel will keep you involved in th story every step along the way. I got lost in Mr. King's world as I visited Duma Key. The characters are so well drawn you actually feel as if you know them. The story is distrubing but always leaves you wondering if this could reallly happen. Better then Cell. Great work!

love the way king tells a story...even about a guy with no arm...good stuff....i always buy his new books only book that i can think of that isnt very good is cell....its kinda janky

I used to love Stephen King books, back when he first started writing. Couldn't wait until his next book was released. I think it was IT and Tommyknockers that turned me off. I heard great reviews about Duma Key. I lived in Florida for alot of years and was sure it'd be a fun book to read. I thought the book totally sucked. The only thing I did like about it was that he mentioned Robin Meade from HNN and I like her and her news show. I very much doubt that I will ever waste time and money on any more Stephen King books.

I love stories by King. I bought if from E.bay because is was last then half the retail price. Buying from E.bay is fast and easy.

The book was new and at a good price. I was looking for it in the stores and did want to pay too high a price. I really enjoy reading Stephen King's books.

Sorry, Mr. King, but your novels no longer hold any interest for me. After growing up with a generation of absorbing, fast-moving tales of mystery and intrigue, your latest novel(s) have turned into senseless, ridiculous and boring messes. Once again, I had to put down "Duma Key" halfway through to keep from falling asleep. Maybe it's time you retired?

Stephen King's best book since Bag of Bones...I haven't been able to put it down! Don't be put off by the size of the book...buy, buy, buy!!!!!

I decided to buy it because it is a Stephen King new release, I have all of his books and I wanted to add it to my collection. I enjoyed it very much and even though I am employed full time, I still finished it in 2 days. It is not a horror book, but it is full of imagination, very descriptive and a very fast read. It keeps you interested in the story and pulls you into the book as if you were there. I highly recommend it and believe that anyone who reads it enjoys it as much as I did.

I am a longtime Stephen King fan, so it was only a matter of time before I bought this book. I was not dissapointed. It was very good.I finished it in just a couple of days, because I couldn't put it down! I would and have recomeneded this book.

Steven King at his VERY best. He has not put out a good book like this in years! You are left with the image of Mr. King himself being the main character in this story. A great read!!!!
