Too much info, especially for art-disabled adults! Drawings are dull, not worth the money. This may be good for upper elementary and high school level. I recently disposed of without getting to Chapter 2.
Great supplement to our studies in Classical Conversations. Not as strong on the Christian worldview as I would prefer -if it were my main History curriculum.
The price was good; the book had some good points and explanation. I was wanting more detail beginning a drawing and working through the steps to finish it. A parent must be with a child for sure.
It is a good book in theory, but it is not something I expected, I would like to have more direct drawing demonstration than just theory. I bought it because someone recommended it.
Our 4th child is high-functioning Autistic, along with many other issues. He's very artistic and detailed. With this in mind, and by the description I had read on this book, I thought it would pretty much be laid out for us in step-by-step form where we could just jump into the book and enjoy it.
However, being the type who like to do things "by the rules", I flipped through the book from the front to the back and by the time I reached what I thought might interest my Son, I felt I would have already lost his interest as he is not one for much reading and quite honestly, I don't have the time to do tons of research on one book before I can use it with him.
I'm keeping the book on the shelf for now, in hopes I will find the time to research it more, others can't be wrong when they say it has helped their Children, as always, I will just have to find a way to make it adapt to ours ;o)
Thank You for reading, ~Heidi of Heidi's Hideaway Consignment
I love this book because there are different drawing exercises and the author breaks things down. Children love drawing the animals in the book and doing the drawing exercises. You and the children will be so amazed and proud of what they accomplish!
