  A sad, sad tale

I suppose my point of view is pretty sour as I've NOT RECIEVED THE PURCHASE. I bought the tape - something that sparks great childhood memories - in early Dec 06 - the DAY after I sent my payment, I received ebay notification that the deal may be going bad and to start reimbursement procedures. Having faith in humanity, I tried several times to contact the seller, but never heard back from her. After a few weeks, I started the complaint process via paypal. I'm still waiting to see how that pans out. This has been painful. I've been trying to secure "Dr Syn, Alias the Scarecrow" for a long time now. It was my all time favorite segment on the old "Wonderful World of Color" series (which, of course, I has to watch in black and white) in the early/mid 60's. To get it would be great. This is the FIRST time in 80 transactions that I've ever been outright STIFFED, and I'm not a happy camper. I wish there was some way to prevent it, but I know that's not realistic. Hopefully ebay and paypal will help me get my money back, but at this point, I'd still be happy just to have the tape show up in my mailbox. Okay, I'm venting - but you asked!!

Disney Classic from the Mickey Mouse Club

When I first saw this I was quite young and just recenetly received one of those emails "Do You Remember" and I started thinking about those serial Movies on Disney, Spin & Marty, The Hardy Boys, Texas John Slaughhter and others but I remember one in particular because it was follore and possibly history and thats the story of Dr. Syn alias the Scarecrow. It was basically a Robin Hood type of movie with that Great Star Patrick Mc Goohan. I researched it and found it on Ebay and regardless whether it was a DVD or a VHS. It was one of my childhood Favorites. I also bought the Hardy Boys and showed my daughter who is 17 and She really enjoyed it to actually watchthem over & over.

As a child it was one of my favorite Disney movies. You can 't find it in stores or through the Disney web sight so I thought I would try e-bay. It was the first time I ordered. The movie was a copy and a bad one at that down to the box it was in. Needless to say for $50.00 I was extremely disappointed.

I had been searching all over creation for this older Disney movie for about 5 years. I had seen the movie while still in elementary school (hundreds of years ago!) and had never forgotten the story and the title song. I was soo pleased to at last find it, in good shape and for sale!!! O'happy Day!! The story is excellent (a bit scary) and very entertaining!! I would recommend this title to everyone. It is Great Family entertainment!!

Patrick McGoohan in a Disney Classic

This movie is well worth your time (and your investment) just to see how Patrick McGoohan handles the complex role of the Vicar of Dymchurch by day and the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh by night. I cannot imagine another actor in the role. A great supporting cast and surprising twists of plot make "Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" my favorite of all Disney films.

This item was a very poor copy of a great movie. Seems as if itwas a 30th generation, at least, copy. Very, very, very POOR quality...... Grade for item = F! Worst item ever bought on e-bay. Seller should be investigated!

'The Prisoner', 'Danger Man', The Scarecrow? Expunged From Their CV W/O
Review created: 11/13/02

Pros:
McGoohan. Adventure. Odd, 'Sleepy Hollow' meets 'Robin Hood' feel.

Cons:
Hard to find?

This is an entry in Simply_Crispy s Expunged from their CV Write-Off. The idea of the write-off is to review a movie that has an actor, who went on to bigger and better things, before they were famous. Or, a movie that has an actor after they d lost it . Something, in any case, that the actor probably didn t brag about a lot. I, being the lout I am, sort of mashed this idea around to suit my own purposes, and reviewed three (this being the third) movies, all Disney, from earlier days. These movies feature actors before they were popular (though this one doesn t exactly fit even that criteria).

Pros:
Taut, historical action adventure...

Cons:
Hard to find...

This version filmed in 1962 at 98 minutes in length. Directed by: James Nielson Cast: Patrick McGoohan, George Cole, Tony Britton, Geoffrey Keene, Kay Walsh, and Patrick Wymark (A remake of the 1937 film with George Arliss, Dr. Syn was also filmed during 1962, starring Peter Cushing, but alternatively titled: "Night Creatures") Before "Danger Man", "Secret Agent", and "The Prisoner", Patrick McGoohan was fighting the establishment in the British Isles as the Vicar of Romney Marsh. Mild mannered by day (...particularly Sunday!...), and cape and cowled by night, he led a rebellious group of...
