Double Live [Long Box] - Brooks, Garth (Cassette 1998)

Ut ooh folks another long CD review from Surg. Hey can I help it if artists and recording labels put so many songs on a CD, then compound it by making it a double set? I will once again try my best to limit my clattering, and still give you the best description of this CD........and away we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take note of how many of these songs were CO written by Garth, the man is a wonderful song writer, dynamic performer, and I believe as all of us, has tasted the bitter and sweet that life offers. Lordy! Do these people ever listen to what I say? After all this time together they should realize I never cross the line into Country-Western! Well, ok, there was that movie Honeysuckle Rose - but it had Amy Irving in it, so I had an excuse. And sure, there was Coal Miner's Daughter - Beverly D'Angelo saved again! But Garth? Come on guys! Ok, ok there WAS that concert - but my bosses wife was out of town and I was the only woman she trusted him to go to the concert with (fool!) I admit it, I saw Garth in concert. But did that really require I suddenly have his music in my collection????...

I just received this wonderful two CD album this week. I can sum up the way I feel about this album in one word WOW!! But since epinions requires 100 words I guess I should elaborate. :) This album is fantastic. It has all of his best songs on it. I love the fact that it is all done live. Its not as good as being there at a live concert but it runs a close second. I love the way he interacts with the audience during several songs. There is a mixture of honky tonk country as well as the more pop sounding songs. "Two of a kind, Workin on a full house", We shall be free", "Shameless", "Standing..

I'm a big Garth Brooks fan, owning all of his CD's. When I heard about this CD, I knew I had to get it because it would have the long verisons of "Friends in Low Places" and "The Thunder Rolls". You can't hear these two long verisons anyplace else but in concert, and her was a CD of Garth live!!! Needless to say, the long verisons are great. The CD is also filled with fan favorites of Garth's - The Dance, Unanswered Prayers (sung mainly by the fans), Beaches of Cheyenne, American Honk (ey - they seem to think Honk ey is an "objectable" word) Tonk Association and others!
