Beauty and the Beast is a classic Disney movie that I'm sure every child 4 and older must know about. I have yet to see the show on Broadway, but by judging from this cast album the show is bound to be exciting, atleast thanks to it's score. All of the songs that you remember from the movie are included with additional songs added to create a full length Broadway show. However the added songs fit in so nicely that you may find yourself thinking they were originally part of the movie as well. Overall the Broadway Cast is good. Belle's voice has an odd quality to it at times, almost as if she's tyring to sound too "cartooney" and I think the Beast tends to overact a bit. If you are curious about this show I'd still recommend that you give the soundtrack a listen...ofcourse you can also try the London cast album, which I have yet to hear.
I SAW THE BROADWAY PLAY IN NEW YORK AND HAD TO HAVE THE MUSIC SAW IT ON EBAY AND BOUGHT IT THE SALE WAS EASY IT WAS AVAILABLE FOR A GOOD PRICE AND SHIPPING WAS QUICK ..I ENJOY THE MUSIC AND THE PLAY ITS AWESOME
This is a classic example of when not to open ones mouth. Yep the ole prince pre-beast really does him self in and you can pciture it without seeing it. Emotional expression, musicality and production makes this one top drawer.
This is a must-have for anyone who loves the original Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast. With all the original songs, plus really great additional songs. Whether or not you have seen the Broadway production (if you haven't you really should!), you will love this music! Great listening for the whole family!

Only a Beast Wouldn't Love This Beauty of a Soundtrack

Pros: Old and new favorites seamlessly combine
Cons: A missing song from the show, a couple of changed lyrics
It's no secret that my favorite Disney animated movie is Beauty and the Beast. So of course, I was intrigued when they turned their version of the classic fairy tale into a full fledged musical. The first time I saw it, I fell in love with it. I have pulled this soundtrack out a couple times a year ever since. As with most musical soundtracks, it helps to have some idea of the story. Those familiar with the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast will have no problem figuring out what is going on here. When Belle's father is captured by Beast, she agrees to take his place as Beast's prisoner...

Great Movie, Even Better Musical

Pros: Wonderful new music
Cons: none
I love the Disney film Beauty and the Beast. It's a romantic love story with a great message. Beauty is not always just on the outside, you must look on the inside to see true beauty. True, it doesn't follow the original fairy tale a whole lot, but it's a great film. Well, the broadway musical is even better. Even if you don't think you'll like this check it out. It isn't just for kids. For those of you who don't know the story, it is centers around two characters, Belle and the Beast. Belle is a beautiful intellegent girl who lives in a town full of dull, boring, stupid townsfolk. The worst..

Pros: lots of great live music
Cons: one song that was in the play was not on the CD
I remember the night. It was December 21, 2000. This was the night that I saw the Broadway production of my favorite movie Beauty and the Beast. I was very excited. Needless to say that the show was great! It was so great that I had to have the music. I picked this CD up on the way out. Summary of Movie: Belle is the "odd" but beautiful daughter of the town inventor. Her life lacks something. She spends her time reading and wishes she had the lives of her favorite heroines. Gaston, the town jerk, wants to marry Belle, but she sees right through him for what he really is and has no interest....

Some new songs added to a great score

Pros: A few new songs that weren't in the movie
Cons: Mostly the same songs as the movie
I am a huge musical theater fan, and I love that Disney chose to use Broadway composers for the animated features. Alan Menken and Howard Ashman also teamed up on Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and the musical Little Shop of Horrors. Menken also did the music for Disney's movie musical Newsies. Tim Rice, who contributed lyrics to Beauty and the Beast, worked on the 1980s musical Chess (which included the song "One Night in Bangkok", which is one of those few Broadway songs that found it's way to mainstream radio). He also teamed up with Andrew Lloyd Webber on Evita, Joseph and the Amazing...
