Pros:
Entertaining action movie with likable main character

Cons:
Very violent at times. Few things could be upsetting to some viewers.

After Die Hard became a huge hit, it wasn't surprising that a sequel was made in 1990. Die Hard 2: Die Harder was just as entertaining as the first movie. John McClane was waiting at the Dulles airport to pick up Holly on Christmas Eve. John was already in Washington, D.C. with their kids to spend the holiday with Holly s parents. Unfortunately John wasn t going to have a peaceful holiday. Colonel Stuart was leading a team of mercenaries and they took over the airport, cutting off certain systems so that the control tower couldn t talk to the planes in the air. The planes were in holding...

Pros:
Willis, Jackson, great action, well thought out plot

Cons:
the villain

Usually when a movie starts kicking out sequels, it tends to take away something from the original film in a series. But, then there are other times where the sequels are able to continue the original story, and they bring something new to a set of films. With the Die Hard franchise, I have found the latter to be true, as we are able to see the main character put into new and different situations. With the Die Hard series, we are actually able to enjoy the development of a particular character, while still being able to see the same qualities that makes him great. In this instance, we have...

Die Hard With a Vengeance - Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson Battled a Terrorist

Pros:
Entertaining action movie. Likable returning character.

Cons:
Could be upsetting to some viewers. No Holly.

I really enjoyed Die Hard and Die Hard 2: Die Harder and they are two of my favorite action movies. Since both of those movies were so popular and successful, it wasn't surprising that a third movie, Die Hard With a Vengeance, was made in 1995. A bomb went off in a department store in New York City. The bomber, Simon, called the police and demanded John McClane. Simon wanted to play a game with John and more bombs would go off around the city if John didn t participate. Zeus, a store owner in Harlem, got pulled into the situation when he tried to intervene in a situation that Simon had set up.

Pros:
Fast paced, lots of action, and Bruce Willis

Cons:
Ultra violent....not for kids of any age

With the success of John McTiernan's 1988 action thriller Die Hard, moviegoers were literally overwhelmed with explosion-and-mayhem laden tales of good-guy-vs.-bunch-of-clever-and-well-armed villains-in-an-enclosed-space films. Some, like Andrew Davis' Under Siege (one of the few movies starring Steven Seagal that I'll sit through) were actually good. Most of them got sillier and sillier as producers and screenwriters struggled with the familiar Hollywood question: How can we top/rip off Die Hard? (In the text commentary to McTiernan's Die Hard, one of the producers reveals that in one studio.

Pros:
good action & suspense

Cons:
plot holes, predictable

Sequelitis is a term usually applied to movies when the first movie was great (or at least good) and then it seems that the second (or third, fourth, fifth, etc.) picture in the franchise suffers. Usually it s because too much time is spent setting up the picture to have too much in common with the first. Oftentimes the same characters are brought back across the board and their presence might not be warranted in the new film. Die Hard 2: Die Harder is an example of how to do a sequel right. The characters that were brought back for the film were handled correctly, rather than creating a...
