One Sweet Monitor

I was using a 24" Dell UltraSharp at work and coming home to a 17". I was going to get a WUXGA, like the 32", but realized my computer didn't have the upper end type of PCI slot with power supply that it would take to run the card for the 32". After reading a lot of reviews and examining the specifications I came to the conclusion that if I couldn't support the WUXGA the 19" supported the highest resolution I was going to be able to run, even if I got a bigger monitor.
I love it. There are a couple of applications in particular where it makes a huge difference.
I do the household finances in Excel, this monitor lets me run Excel and be able to see the transactions, the little panel of formulas I built in to track different spending categories, and have the bank webpage with their transactions, epay, etc... all visible all at the same time.
At the other end of the spectrum I play online FPS games. Between this monitor, headphones so I can fully absorb the information that comes from stereo-sound, and a trackball style mouse, I can keep up with the teenagers who used to annihilate me. I now maintain respectable scores in several online games, despite the fact I work for a living, have kids, etc... The brightness, speed, size, and resolution of this monitor are a big part of that. With this monitor I don't miss so much as a pixel of indication giving away someone's location, and with the trackball I can put a round dead on that one pixel. In flying games, the speed of the monitor keeps up without compromise while the track ball lets me keep a reticle nailed to my enemy's craft as I pound away on him.
I watch movies on this monitor and it is far superior to any tv or any other monitor I've ever had and used. That includes a very nice, and much larger, television. The brightness of the monitor makes all the difference.
When web surfing using this monitor I can run four windows with tabs and still get the content of the sites I'm on. I usually actually run three windows, so I have some desktop space to work with.
I do use the built-in USB hub, both my keyboard and mouse are USB which eliminates some of the tangle of cables. That by itself is notable, there are a lot of USB hubs who aren't of the quality to game through using USB mice and keyboards.
I also have the soundbar that clips to the monitor, which works for movies in general and has headphone jacks. Again, the fact I can jack the headphones into the soundbar removes a lot of tangle issues.
The one serious downside is that after getting used to this monitor watching regular CRT televisions or older LCD displays is extraordinarily annoying.
Last note: I run a dual-boot Windows XP / Ubuntu 7.10 machine on this monitor, and have had no driver or other issues with compatibility. Believe me, some of the advanced Ubuntu OS graphic interface capabilities that Vista has tried to catch up to are simply awesome on this monitor.
