One of the great disaster films of the 90's -- This is a movie about all the lives effected when a comet hits the planet earth -- From how people deal with it, To who chooses to stay and who chooses to run.... A very inspiring movie that has a lot of brilliant scene and a must see for fans of this genre of film...

Pros:
Excellent plot, acting and a real eerie concept.

It came out the same time as the movie, Armageddon.

Pros:
Realistic depiction of events, great effects.

Cons:
Over the top emotionally.

As Douglas Adams so admirably put it, Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space. In reality, it s a good thing that space is as big as it is, because along with our own dearly beloved planet Earth, there s a lot of stuff hurtling about out there. But big as space is, sometimes our Earth (and the rest of the planets in the solar system for that matter) do get pelted by asteroids, comets, and other assorted space debris. Don t believe me? Just ask the.

  Deep Impact Rates High

Pros:
All-star cast

Cons:
It might make you cry

When I was a little girl I saw a movie called "The Day After" about nuclear war. It absolutely terrified me to think that the world as we know it could cease to exist. Ever since then I have been sickly fascinated by natural disasters. I'm a sucker for movies such as Twister, Armageddon, and The Perfect Storm. All great movies, but Deep Impact holds the spot for my all time favorite disaster movie. The story begins with two young lovers watching the stars and unknowingly discovering the disastrous asteroid. Months later, an up-and-coming reporter stumbles upon this information, thinking she's.

Pros:
Some sporadic moments of suspense; a few cool CGI and SFX shots.

Cons:
Cheesy, melodramatic, unrealistic, bland, cliche, unoriginal, poorly written and directed.

The term "disaster movie" is somewhat of a misnomer since films of the type aren t so much about the cataclysmic events themselves as they are about people banding together because of a threat. This is a concept that could, in theory, combine action and drama perfectly. "Deep Impact" is another mega-budget movie of the sort which tries its hardest to be completely plausible, but in turn detracts from the fantasy of it all. There's no denying we want to be excited and intrigued by movies right from the get-go, and this film realizes that notion and exploits it through one of the most pathetic..

More Of A Glancing Blow Than A Deep Impact
Review created: 05/06/01

Pros:
Morgan Freeman. Amazing Special Effects. Thought provoking look at humanity's reaction to impending doom.

Cons:
Wooden acting other than Freeman who isn't given enough. Poor character development. Flat, anticlimactic moments.

Have you ever heard of those feminine tales of woe, where the eager young teen, Betty Lou goes to the big dance/party/rave/whatever in her painstakingly chosen outfit, finely calculated to make her the centre of attention, only to discover that Molly Sue from down the road has tragically chosen exactly the same ensemble? The horror which poor Betty experiences, must surely have been similar to that the production crew of Deep Impact must have felt when it was realised that the release of their film would coincide with the rather more hyped Bruce Willis blockbuster, Armageddon Not since Drop...
