Sean Connery, the talented Scotsman who got his first break as a film extra, was the love interest in a spritely Disney musical comedy, Darby O'Gill and the Little People. Based on a series of short stories by H. T. Kavanaugh, this 1959 release also featured Albert Sharpe, (Darby), and the perfectly cast Jimmy O'Dea, as King Brian. Set in Ireland, with a mostly Irish ensemble, it is the story of Darby, whose skirmishes with the Little People, or Leprechauns, have not gone unnoticed by King Brian. Unfortunately, as Darby cares much for a wee drop of the barley, no one believes his encounters...
