Dante's Peak (1998, DVD)

Dante's Peak has and will probably always be one of my favorite natural Disaster movies! You felt like you were watching Real People Dealing with Real issues!! This movie takes the cake over movies like Volcano or Deep Impact! There was simply more meat in the charecters and more involvement with surviving the disaster! The intricacies of escaping didn't come across as you having to have superhuman abilities which made this even more believeable!! This is a Keeper!!

I bought this for my son and he loves the movie, even though it's an older movie and I haven't watched it myself. The reason he wanted it is because of the actor.

A wonderful natural disaster movie. A scientist goes to a mountain village and finds out the volcano is about to blow. He tries to convince the experts of this, but they dont listen. He makes friends with the local law, a strong woman with 2 kids and an abstinate ex mother in law. She helps the scientist try to convince everyone. When the volcano blows, everyone races to leave while the scientist and the lady law go to find her kids who have gone to warm the grandmother. There are beautiful shots of mountain views, a really great digi volcano blow, melting lava, heated waters, lots of grey mass, exciting run away sceens, a bit of romance, a few people dont make it, and did I mention a great volcano blow up sceen? This isnt a wishy washy disater movie. Its a down to earth version you'll enjoy if you give it a chance. A really wonderful watch as disaster movies go. Get the popcorn and soda and find the plushiest part of the sofa! If youve seen it before, you know its great. If you havent, read the reviews. Well worth the money for good entertainment.

Superb special effects, music and acting make this one of our favorites for action drama!!!!!!!! Story line well developed and Pierce Brosnan at his best!

Only reason I got this movie is cause I enjoy watching movies, and I have one in a VHS video. But wit the one in the video for my vcr was eating it. But when I won this on ebay as a DVD its gives me all how they made the movie and all the deleted scenes. I love this movie alot and its great to watch it all the time over and over.

I saw this a long time ago. I really liked the actors in this movie, and I wanted to be able to watch it again on my own terms. I love the DVD bonus information.

Everything about it is great. One of the best movies that I have seen and am pleased to add it to my library of movies. Couldn't be more happy.

As disaster movies go, it is ok. Nothing real spectacular, but entertaning enough to keep your attention.

I've seen the movie before and really enjoyed it. It is one of those that I like to see again occasionally. I saw Mt. St. Helens erupt and the movie was very much like the actual occurrence.
