This book brings back a great character - Jack, a medical examiner who loves basketball and bike riding and his girl friend Laurie. However, the subject of this novel is rather dry and there are a lot of medical/legal concepts that need a lengthy explanation. There is a rather nice twist at the end, but the book ends rather abruptly.
Robin Cook writes an excellent medical thriller. CRISIS is no exception. Filled with tension, twists and turns, Cook takes the reader on a surprise filled ride. Dr. Jack Stapleton, a returning character from a previous novel, carries the plot forward.
Jack is a medical examiner and flies from New York to Boston to help his sister, whose husband is being sued for malpractice. Jack is on a deadline for personal reasons as well as for the trial that is coming to a rapid close.
Threats, assaults, and numerous close calls do not stop Jack in his pursuit of the truth. Jack's brother in law, Craig Bowman, on trial for malpractice is also a member of a new form of medical practice called consierge medicine. Cook offers varying opinions on this type of medical practice through several testimonies during the trial. Very thought provoking.
Cook writes this medical thriller, set in present day, and makes the reader think about the underlying social problems developing in health services as well as the story line in his novel.
A fast paced page turner, Robin Cook does it again in CRISIS, his latest medical thriller. I look forward to more from Mr. Cook; he never disappoints.
Excellent writer. Can't stop buying his books. I could start a library just with his books. His books are so intriging. Even though he writes about medical stuff most of the time, you won't get bored with it.
I have been buying his books for years and always look forward to his next novel. I have almost every book he has ever published. I will keep collecting, he is a very talented writer.
As a proponent of concierge medicine this book really allows you to see both the pros and cons............it hasn't changed my opinion, but the medical facts were real! As always Robin Cook brings his love of medicine and knowledge into his world of writing............with a great ending!

I read the web sites very carefully and consider this the "sales pitch" as to why I should by there book verses another. The feedback is very important and I usually read this to see others exereince with this seller. The book Crisis itself is as good as Cook can be.
