Camille Broussard still lives in the the Watts neighborhood after all her children and most of her family have left. Camille is known for her meat pies, pickled okra and perfect pralines, just to name a few of her Southern influenced cooking.
Actually, she is from a proud Creole family and from her family recipes she decides to open a restaurant in her very home (in Watts, a neighborhood in California) with the help of Lester Pep, her unemployed neighbor.
With heart-warming adventures and tales about herself and her sons and daughters, this story of motherhood will make you smile more then once. Camille is the rock that holds her family together. She invites us to try her food (recipes included in this book) and we remember, as my daddy always said, "Food is love."
