I really love this CD. I grew up listening to it on roadtrips with the fam. Great music! On my iTunes, have every song on here rated from three to five stars. Only a few threes, lots of fives!
I loved the link for more info on the CD and I loved how nice it looked. I was grateful for how much I got to know about it before I actually bought it. Very nice job... Happy New Year!!
Cracked Rear View is the major-label debut album by Hootie & the Blowfish, released in 1994. It was the highest-selling album of 1995, and it eventually sold over 16 million copies to retailers in the U.S., earning a Diamond certificate from the RIAA along the way (for 10 million+ albums sold.) It is currently tied with seven other albums, all certified 16x platinum, for the 13th best selling album of all time in the United States. Amongst those, it is tied with classic rock band Boston for best-selling debut of all time.
this is a great group. style and voice is very interesting. this cd is somewhat repetitive. the songs sound the same,I hated when my dad said that about my music.but it started to bore me.
I bought this album because I had memories from 10 years ago that I had enjoyed several of these songs. Well, either I remembered a different Hootie album or these songs have just not held up well. There is only one song on this album that I will put in my library(Only Wanna Be With You). It is pretty good, but not worth buying the album for.
A Great Band, Great Debut Album ...!!! I went to college at the University of SC, where Darius and crew got their start playing the local scene at "Five Points" - the place where all the bars/clubs around campus are located. Listening to the album again takes me back to my college days and reminds me of all the times I would see their flyers up on campus when ever they had a gig!!!
when this cd first came out it was huge and like most rock groups they kind of fade off after a huge first album. trying to repeat the success on a second or third usually doesn't happen, unless you're Led Zepellin or Santana or the Stones, Beatles etc. i still enjoy this cd like most they remind of a time in our life with an ex girl or whatever exciting was going on at the time. For me this is a fun uplifting celebration of music. Peace....Johnny B.
I Love Hootie. Very southern cajun kind of sound. Love the lead singers voice. I just bought another copy because I totally wore out my old one. You've gotta love it!
It is just a classic recording that I have managed to lose a couple of times over the years. Execellent writing on most every song and just a great addition to my collection. Darian's voice is one of a kind.
i can personally relate to every song on the album . some more than others. they describe what it feels like to hate your dad for running out on your mom. the song about his mom dying. what it feels like to be alone and misunderstood. truly a classic hope every one feels the same way. this album is more than only want to be with you and hold my hand. its edgy and not as pop rock as everyone has made it out. 5 stars all the way. how come its taken you so long to own this album ?
I love the harmony. I was going to college at the time this CD was out and you couldn't drive 5 miles without hearing at least one "Hootie and the Blowfish" song.(I was in my 40s) but I really liked this CD. It has a great variety of subjects; it isn't irritating to the senses. I bought this to help me remember my college days ---and I really enjoy listening to the music.
This CD is pretty much a classic by now but I it is still an awesome CD! Except for one or two songs this whole CD is filled with the best songs that you could listen to over and over again. True, you could download these songs of the internet for free but it would take you a while to get all the songs in a high quality copy so why not buy this CD for a couple bucks instead?
Sure they only had one good album but this album was definitely a home run! All the songs on this CD are classics that you have memorized. Good stuff!
I used to have this CD a long time ago, i just like it. A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I love this cd. No matter what mood you are in, there is at least one song to match it. It's one I can listen to over and over and enjoy all the songs on it, instead of just a select few, like most cds.
I recently purchased a used CD – Cracked Rear View by Hootie and the Blowfish. At first you say; “A used CD?” I did as well. When it arrived by Mail I opened it and played it immediately and it was great. Even the plastic case. I have purchased several items at eBay and I think it is a great outlet to join people selling with those purchasing, from the mundane (a CD purchase for $0.99) to the specialized (Golf clubs for $300). It is a great experience and I will keep coming back.
this is one of my favorite cd of all time and mine somehow disappeared. it is one of the only cd's my husband and i can agree on. so i had to get a new one so i could put it on my ipod and could have as a backup. i just love hootie, i actually have all their cd's and this is the best. great music. you can move to the music or slow dance or just feel good. i really like it. thanks
This is perhaps one of the worst albums ever produced. While there are undeniably moments of pop catchiness, they fade within seconds. Furthermore, if you are masochist enough to subject yourself to any footage of the act, you will find a revolting arrogance which is so dreadfully misplaced that it will turn your stomach the next time that you find yourself ever-so-briefly caught in that forgetful moment where you don't immediately destroy whatever device from which their putrid music emanates.
