This album came out in 1993.. It was a very good album, at the time, with positive reviews that did not do well on the commercial market.. The songs were getting little radio air play and it seemed doomed.. You can not listen to her rendition of "You Don't Know Me" and then think, for a minute, the album was doomed.. Although, After this album, Emmylou went back to some more "Rock" edged material when she did "Wrecking Ball"....
I bought this because some thug stole my vehicle and this CD was inside hence I was replacing the stolen one. I have loved Emmylou Harris for 30 years and own many of her CD's. I particularly like her version of "You Don't Know Me".
This album has more than music to offer it creates a unique atmosphere; it presents an original style of music without a complicated bombardment of instruments. the musical style allows the listener to appreciate the sound of just a singer and her guitar. the singer's voice sounds like an angel. I love this cd because it is so poetic and emmy lou harris has a voice that is distinct and beautiful. She cannot accidently be mistaken for another singer. Although I don't particularly like all of the songs on this cd, I bought it anyway because I knew there would be songs included that would put a lump in my throat and cause me to turn up the volume; maybe even get out my guitar and try to play along.
