Courage Under Fire (2001, DVD)

Before I even start this review, take a look at the list of actors and actresses that are in this movie: Matt Damon, Seth Gilliam, Scott Glenn, Michael Moriarty, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bronson Pinchot, Meg Ryan, and Denzel Washington. That being said, you step into the viewing of this film, already under the assumption that this movie is going to contain some top-notch acting, and boy you will not be disappointed. Once again, I have found a movie in which I liked the book better. This is not unusual because I usually find that I enjoy the book version better than the movie (e.g., Jurassic Park, Silence of the Lambs, etc.). And in this case, the book wasn't the "on the edge of your seat" type anyway. But the book did manage to portray a good deal of intrigue and a secondary plot that were just missing in the movie. Lieutenant Colonel Nathaniel Serling (Denzel Washington) used to be one of the best combat commanders on the field. Epinioners, I had no idea where else to place this essay of sorts on Fox's new line-up of remastered DVD titles, but since I discuss Courage Under Fire, which comes alphabetically first, at some length, I hope you won't mind that I filed this under said movie category. -Bill C I suppose that the entries in Fox's initial wave of dual-DD/DTS titles were selected for their aural oomph, but they do in fact share a theme, war, which seems too implausible as coincidence.
