... for those that do or don't like Stallone movies!
This one didn't have as much action,
but I liked it as the storyline was thoughtful
and entertaining.
The additional actors were cast well, and there
were no cliches in this movie, as it was directed
very well.
Probably not one for your Stallone Film Library,
but definitely worth viewing at least once !

This is a movie with star-power that never seems to get the acclaim it deserves. The lead, Sylvester Stallone, plays a New Jersey sheriff where many members of the NYPD live. Suffering from a bit of an inferiority complex, Stallone's character has never really been "good enough" to be part of the NYPD. When he discovers and starts to uncover an enormous trail of crime and cover-ups involving the cops living in his community, he starts to prove his detective abilities, much to the surprise of those around him. It's a story of good vs. evil and too much power gone bad.
Stallone is not one of my favorite actors by any stretch, but ironically he, too, proves something in this movie. He is a much better actor than I've ever given him credit for.
A good movie for those who like mystery, action, suspense.

Let's face it. Copland is a movie that has one hell of a great cast: Sylvester Stallone, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, and Robert DeNiro. It's not something you see every day. Unfortunately, the movie was largely ignored at the box office and by the audiences which is strange given the talent involved. But it perhaps provided a little more strength in Sly Stallone's fading career and proved that he's still an actor before an action star. It s appropriate to begin with a confession. After all, there s a major shortage of honesty among the characters in Cop Land, so someone s got to take the lead. My confession is that I don t like Sylvester Stallone. Or at least I didn t like him until I saw Cop Land. It seems that everyone but me loved Stallone in his many previous roles as a macho hero. This is the kind of film that just blows my mind, but not in a good way. You've got the legends of the crime film, Robert DeNiro, Harvey Keitel, and Ray Liotta.
