Saw this One For My Birthday Years Ago.... It definitely was a cartoon with an "attitude', in that it was over the top for its' time!
The film combined live actionwith animation much the same way as the movie 'Who Framed Rodger Rabbit' did, but with more violence, and not all of it cartoonish!
Cool World took the premise of cartoon characters and real life persons crossing the barrier into each others' worlds with a cast of way out characters, both human and 'toons.
Not recomended for children!
Brad Pitt fans will like this role he plays! Michael
I have been building a huge dvd collection. I have recently started looking for and buying dvd's I remeber watching as a kid. I have been looking for this dvd for a long time now. Many people may not know this but they have stopped making this dvd making it a nice collector item and a very hard to find item. If you enjoy movies as much as I do I would recommend it.
But, my boyfriend likes it :) Thus, even though I find it a bit um,... too erotica like for cartoon material, it's okay. I just hope some little children do not mistake it for something they are allowed to watch, you know?
One must consider the age of this movie to appreciate it. It is a fun action movie that I bought because I remember it in the 1980's. I remember that it used state-of-the-art special effects similar the movie "Roger Rabbit". The movie could not have been made without the new effects. Most people do not remember that Brad Pitt was in this movie, who was pretty much a nobody at the time. It will never be a classic, but it is worth seeing.
Pros:Good casting. Cons:The movie was dark and dreary. It was difficult to follow the plot because it jumped around a lot. It was like being forced to watch a video of somebody's nightmare. I think the director wanted it to be like that, but it made the movie unendurable.
I liked the movie very much, especially the animation. I also liked it because it was sort of a detective story. They really made the cartoon character look like Kim Bassinger. I don't think there was anything I disliked about it. And I purchased it so I could watch it when ever I liked.
Bought this because we were rediscovering "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and wanted something in a similar vein. Interesting idea, but not nearly as good. Also, NOT a movie that you can watch with the kids. It is filled with adult themes and not ones that will go over the kids' heads.
It was cool to see Brad Pitt in his early years. This movie was alot like Roger Rabbit, but not for kids. Way too much sex talk in it - the story called for it, but it went overboard I thought.
For those people who love cartoons with attitude, this is a cartoon for you. "Cool World" combines real life with animation much the same way as the movie "Who Framed Rodger Rabbit".
Cool World takes the idea of cartoons and real life crossing the line into each others worlds with a hilarious cast of characters, both human and toons. This is a cartoon movie with an ADULT theme....NOT recomended for children.
