Once upon a time, there was a movie/cartoon hybrid called "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" that made a ton of money. Sadly, that success spelled disaster for Ralph Bakshi and the movie that eventually became "Cool World." In its present form, "Cool World" is about cartoonist Jack Deebs (Gabriel Byrne), who draws the cartoon from while the film gets its title, unaware that "Cool World" is actually a real place that he will soon be visiting. I went to see "Cool World" years ago as one of the last things I did in Kokomo, Indiana, before moving to Chicago to start a new job. I had heard from others that "Cool World" was an informal sequel to the excellent animated feature "Heavy Metal", so I had hopes that this would be a very positive experience. Wrong!! Everything in "Cool World" is very inferior, and even amateurish, whether it's the plot, the dialogue, or the musical score, but especially the animation. It all looks like it was thrown together at the last moment by people who didn't particularly care. Worse, a lot of it doesn.

I have to be honest...the biggest reason I like this movie and have it on video is that it's a Brad Pitt film. I am a HUGE fan of his and have every one of his films on tape, it's so bad that I have to go to the movies as soon as a new film comes out with him, even if it's something I really would not go see LOL Anyway, back to the movie hehehe The film is good, having fairly good actors and plot. It is a split real/Cartoon, but it is 100% adult in material. So it is not a cartoon that would be appropriate for children. Truly amazing special affects, when they have the characters change...
