I have been using this book for a few years now, there is nothing quite like it.People interested only in the value of watches may be a little dissapointed with it as this book is more for those among us who have a passion for watches, pocket and wrist alike, whether they be dealers or collectors or (like myself) a little bit of both! I would say that the prices are confusing to some as there are so many factors involved in the value of a watch,ie;Insurance valuations being so much higher than you would sell a watch for on ebay for example, the US watch market being cheaper than the UK's (usually with middle of the road watches like Omega's,Longines,etc...)and especially at the moment with the value of the dollar....etc...etc..etc. I could go on and on but at the end of the day, this is not a pocket book but it is a book that one should keep around them when going watch hunting as it really is (once you get used to it) 'THE BEES KNEES'!
This is most certaintly not the "Complete" book to watch prices or anything else about watches. It is primarily about pocket watches for the collector. I bought the book because I am interested about the resale value of vintage watches, mainly wrist watches. There are no Bulova or Seiko, just to mention a couple, watches mentioned at all.
Wow .Excellent book.Excellent price.Fast shipping.Great seller.Highly recomended. This book is a must for any watch collector.Has all you need to buy a watch and to make sure you are getting a good price before you buy it.
The book has alot of detailes and facts about watches that may be a little more advanced than we wanted but a nice addition... Book has great selection of different watches by maker and style and date. Not every watch ever made is in here but you would need a monster for that. Amazing source guide to have!!! Highly recomended!!!
As an NAWCC member for 20 years, this is the book that almost everyone relies on as a guide to what is out there and relative prices. It should be understood that not every timepiece will be found in the book nor that the prices are always accurate. This is true of any guide covering a vast subject. What this does provide is more information on the general subject of horology in one book then one can find anywhere else. It is a very useful GUIDE!
As a member of the National Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) for the last 10 years, the "Complete Price Guide to Watches" has been an absolute invaluable tool in my pursuit of collecting both wrist and pocket watches. The book provides a very informative and conscise history of watchmaking and their respective makers and, as the title suggests, the book also provides a near-comprehensive listing of watches by manufacturer/maker; listing respective current "fair market" prices whenever possible. Whether you're a hard core watch collector, or simply a beginner who inherited an heirloom pocket watch--this is the book for you!
