Cloverfield (2008, DVD)

I didn't really like this movie. The first 15 minutes I was totally confused. Good veiws in it I just didn't like the way they filmed the movie. On the other hand my 2 brothers loved this movie. Oldest went to buy it.

The first few minutes were kind of hard to follow but it was setting up the characters and story so don't give up. If I had seen this in the theater I would have been screaming my head off. First decent monster movie in a long time. Kept us on the edge of the couch, this is a MUST see for any monster movie fan!!!

I thought it was a horrible movie,,,it had great potential but the idea the whole movie was seen through a video cam is ridiculous, my eyesight was traumatized by the constant bouncing up and down of the screen,,,a terrible waste of a good plot,,,horrible execution!

I was suprised by this movie. . I was entertained during & with the end. The style of The Blair Witch Project/Camera was very well done. . The tunnel scene was the best part. . . 3 1/2 thunbs up. . .

film did not live up to the critics reviews, I expected a much better movie than what it turned out to be.

Cloverfield is a one of those movies that comes out and raises the bar for other movies. If you buy watch this movie thinking it is going to be stupid, then there is no doubt in my mind that you will think what you feel. But if you were one of the thousands of fans who have been waiting for this movie since day one of its first trailer release, then you will be impressed beyond expectations. If you missed it in theaters you really missed out, the problem with the dvd is that you don't get that same feeling as if you were in an actual theater. The only true way to capture the greatness of cloverfiled is with a HD tv and a really large surround sound system. The steel case book is a true work of art in my opinion.....it looks fantastic

I love the movie super fast shipping. I decided to buy i wanted this movie really bad. It was ending in a few minutes and it had a buy it now price that was resonable to me so i brought it

The movie was not very well produced. The camera shots were to be as if you were watching an unprofessional photographer filming the shots, and this made it very uneasy to watch. Otherwise, it was an okay storyline.....could have been better if the scenes were clear.

I don't care what anyone says. This was a well done movie; very original and realistic. It gave me the sense of being right in the disaster, which led to its creepiness.

So you don't see full details of the creature. That adds to the mysterious nature of the flick. Not everything needs to be fully revealed and understood right away for a movie to be enjoyable and entertaining.

I also don't see the similarity of Godzilla, nor even Blair Witch Project with Cloverfield.

If you like to watch a movie through the view of a video camera you may like it but I dont. New movie thought it may be good.

I bought this because it was said to be the new Godzilla. Cloverfield has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Never shows the monster. Just a flash of it. Boring. It is not worth watching free. Please don't waste your time or money on this.

This is a good movie but not fantastic as they want you to think,lets just say its the Godzilla theme but in the U.S. If you get motion sickness from a wobbley handicam type filming then this movies is not for you.It was a different movie style but worth it if you can buy it cheap.

I want everyone to know that this movie was a really good movie. People complain "Oh it's like the Blair Witch!" "Oh, you only see the thing for 15 seconds!" My goodness!! Stop complaining. Sit down, relax, enjoy the movie and expect to be asking yourself, what in the world?!? Let's see it again! The second movie is going to be just as good as the first. There is NO doubt in my mind. I love it!!!!!!

This movie is a rip off of the Blair Witch Project, only it's filmed in color. What a piece of trash movie. Thank God I didn't pay full price for it. The sound effects came from Godzilla vs Mothra. Disgusting, stupid movie!

I'VE SEEN ALOT OF CREATURE FEATURES,BUT "CLOVERFIELD" IS FANTASTIC.THE FILM NOT ONLY MAKES YOU A VIEWER,BUT YOU ALSO EXPERIENCE THE STORY.YES,THE CAMERA DOES THE SHAKY AS OBSERVED ON THE TV SHOW "COPS",BUT THE PERSON WITH THE CAMERA IS THERE!GET OVER THE SHAKEY BAKEY CAMERA,REALIZE YOU ARE "THERE",AND ENJOY A GOOD CREATURE FEATURE.WELL WORTH IT!PEACE.

I found this movie to be very realistic, i felt like i was there facing a sudden life changing trail of decissions. I didnt like the shake&take of the camera but was well worth it - the action was incredible and so realistic i almost thought i was there. 3 of us all diff age groups agreed this was a great monster flick. Thats my story and im stickin to it - go see this you should like it !!! M-Dog

This movie's video was so shakey because it's being taped by the people in the movie with a regular camcorder. How the battery lasted so long is beyond me. Anyway...overall it was boring to watch. I usually enjoy "okay" movies when I've been drinking...but this was terrible. I'm definitely not going to watch the sequel. I don't care what happens next. HORRIBLE!

this movie is horrible. we had almost motion sickness watching this movie. there is not point to the movie. the plot is horrible. they should never film that mvie like that

Boy, how many movies are we going to keep seeing that are take offs and tweaks from other movies 10 to 20 years ago? I bet younger crowds today are not even aware of this and think these movies are fresh new ideas.

Anyway, here's Cloverfield. I have to say for a tweak job , it's great! Slow but realistic beginning gives the feel of a real experience watching a cam of a send off party for a popular fellow that accepted a job in Japan. Once you're past that, the movie 'abruptly' keeps the real feel via sudden explosions and panic.

You will feel like your watching something that really happened thru a cam corder. This idea was introduced thru 'BlairWitch'. A $35,000 production cost returned $300,000,000 !!!!!!!! That's because it was a FIRST time concept. Cloverfield spent some bucks on effects but it won't generate that kind of cash.

If you liked The Mist, BlairWitch , Godzilla movies, Aliens 2, then see this!! If you did not like those movies, don't waste your time or money on it.

My only peeve... I would have changed the ending. I would have had the cam re-open to show them in a hospital recovering and told they were going to be rich because they were the only ones with detailed footage of the event. Oh well... it ends sad.

That's all I will say because I DON'T provide spoilers! Get the movie on Ebay if you like the other movies I mentioned. It's worth it! Grade A + !

Special effects are ok.... "monsters look a bit like something Van Morrison would imagine seeing after a hot concert"... would not have bought it (bid on it) if I
had realized how amateurish it actually is....

Cloverfield,hmmm...
This movie is surpassed other movies I've seen, its different from regular movies shot by the camera-men. This movie puts you at a front audience angle that it feels like you're in the movie. Also this movie is tensely movtivating, wanting to see what the monster-thingy looks like. I recommend to rent the movie first, then go buy it. If you don't like it, you're missing out. By the way....Cloverfield ROCKS!!!!

I think the movie would have been a blockbuster if it would have used much less of the true motion filming. I have never had motion sickness my entire life. But my brain kept telling me when is this movie going to stablize the whole time. The actual alien and sidekicks were very well done.

Movie will start to suck at the begining then pick up as you keep on watching it.this movie do'es give you a migran with the camrea shaking in most of the film.ending sucked right when the movie gets to the great parts it ends.

From the start many people compare this movie to the Blair Witch Project. But this movie was way more than some crappy movie done shot by a hand held camera with poor cinematics. This was a clever, thrilling, interesting, and a great movie to watch.

As I sat in the movie theater I felt that I was personally in NEW YORK. The way that the camera was used created a realistic feel to the movie. It was more than some monster flick. Cloverfield was all about this group of people trying to get out of Manhattan, not just the monster destroying everything. There were many surprises in the plot, and the graphics were outstanding. The monster was very original and realistic, and the monster was not the main focus of the story which separated this movie from GODZILLA.

SO yes I would recommend this movie to everyone of you, because the movie was fantastic despite its non existent comparisons to Godzilla and the Blair Witch projects. The situations are very realistic. One of the things that surprised me about this movie the most was that though I thought the hand held camera might fault the movie it did the complete opposite and made it even more interesting. Everything the main character saw, the audience saw. And along with the comedic relief the character holding the camera had really made this movie even better.
