There is no such thing as a bad RUSH album!

Plain and simply put. THIS ALBUM ROCKS!!! It has a very nice mix from various years and generations of some of RUSHs best and most popular hits. I have been a RUSH fan for as long as they have been a band. This Canadian trio has 3 of the most talented musicians ever to come together in Rock & Roll. Mr. Pert (percussionist) IS simply the greatest drummer of all time. I have never heard an argeument from anyone about that. People can argue who the greatest all time guitarist or bassist is. But when you mention the mind boggling works of Neil Pert. No one cares to say there is better. Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee are SUPERB musicians. Few musicians tear up a Bass guitar like Geddy Lee. Flea from RHCP comes to mind. Alex Lifeson has ALWAYS been VERY UNDER RATED!!! Just because the man makes his job LOOK easy doesn't mean his job IS easy. If your into a fine mix of melodics and hard rock sound with lyrics that tell interesting little stories, you will love RUSH. There is no head banging here. Just fabulous acoustic guitar, fabulous guitar riffs that hit pretty damn hard & some of the most meodic bass guitar you will EVER hear. The Chronicles album is a GREAT album because it gives you a little taste of the band through the decades. In my personal opinion, the older RUSH is the better RUSH. They still tour to this day. GO SEE THEM if they ever come within 2112 miles of your town. It is just about the best way to spend 3 hours of your life and enjoy some true talent.

Neil Pert writes all the lyrics to RUSHs songs. He has a way of letting your imagination wander to a differnet place and time when you REALLY get into the groove of what RUSH is about. This album will lead you to wanting to buy more albums because like I said, RUSH Chronicles is just A TASTE of what their music is like over a number of decades. The ways they have evolved. How they moved and changed with the times. And how they STILL continue to make great music.

Also, Rush has been putting out albums since 1974. How many bands do YOU know of that still have it together after almost 35 years in the business? Not many. These guys are truly connected mind, body and spirit. And it shows in the albums they put out and the shows they perform. BUY THE ALBUM & SEE THE SHOW! Treat yourself to some wonderful music experiences. You'll be glad you did.

  Rush 2 CD set
Review created: 01/04/08

The music is a collection of Rush's best along with some songs I haven't heard before. It's like reading a history of Rush.
The music quality is great though it plays softer than most of my music, requiring me to turn up the volume.

I didn't like this item because the CD's were scratched and the case was cracked. I decided to buy it because on the web page it said it was in good condition. I also bought it because my boyfriend really wanted it.

  Rush Chronicles

One of the greatest compilations of all time. The discs trend the lifespan of Rush from a deep grungy sound in their obscure beginnings to refined and clean top rate band of the 80's. I saw Rush twice, before and after the release of 2112, and was never disappointed. The sound and power of this three man band is something that will never be seen again.

  A Solid Compliation

The 2-disk set "Chronicles" by Rush covers the years 1974-1989. True to the title, the disks are arranged in chronological order with about two cuts from the Rush debut through Presto.

The album has all of the essentials including "Working Man," "Closer to the Heart," "The Spirit of Radio," "Tom Sawyer," "Limelight" and "Subdivisions", though it is missing some awesome songs like YYZ, By Tor & The Snow Dog, Xanadu, Cygnus X-1 & 2, Marathon, Open Secrets, and others.

Bottom line is Chroincles is a great start for anyone just discovering Rush, or to complete the collection.

Not the best possible Rush collection, but good nonetheless

Pros:
Nice sample of some of Rush's better work

Cons:
2 CDs can't cover 20 years of excellent music

Let me start things off by explaining my rating of four out of five stars. Chronicles is really a pretty good set, with some of Rush's better songs included on the two discs. However, as a big fan of Rush who owns somewhere around fifteen or so of their albums, I find Chronicles to be somewhat incomplete. Not only do I question some of the songs included in the set (especially on the second disc), but there are many songs I would have liked to have seen included which were not. My point here is that the star I've left off in the rating is a reflection on the faults of this particular...

Rush Chronicles: A Video Collection: It's About the Music...
Review created: 09/10/01
by: jag2112 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great sampling of old classic Rush songs along with more modern choices.

Cons:
Some duplication from earlier Video collection releases.

Someone once wrote "It's about the music, man..." and in many respects, that can sum up the overall feeling about your typical Rush-related videos. It's not about the imagery. It's not about how Geddy, Alex and Neil appear on screen. It's about the music. Man. But, short of seeing Rush live (which may be impossible these days as they may be done touring for good), it's always nice, interesting and often instructional to see them perform in either studio-created or live-captured videos. Once, when M-TV was young, Rush videos would and could be seen often. But as the times changed, and M-TV..

16 Years of Rush jammed into two tiny CDs...
Review created: 07/23/01
by: jag2112 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Excellent sampling of the band's classic songs from their career.

Cons:
Chopped up version of 2112, somewhat predictable selection of songs.

Before I begin this review of the Rush compilation cd-set called Chronicles, I'd like to quote my very last review, which was on Rush's last live album/3-cd set Different Stages: On a personal note, this review is the last album review in my Rush series. I thank everyone who has taken the time to read these reviews - especially those who are not familiar or interested in the topic of choice. And while I still have some Rush-related reviews to cover, I will now be focusing more of my attention on other items that may have a more general appeal to the vast Epinions community. So isn't it just.

Rush - Past present and.. well, no... just past
Review created: 03/03/01
by: Taishan -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
They're masters of music. How can I write it all in this tiny space??

Cons:
Some of the videos are a bit corny

It always amazes me that a band of this caliber exists and it always amazes me even more that a band of this caliber can go through so many changes and still sound just as incredible today as they did when they first started! Chances are, if you're looking at this review, you already have some clue as to who this band is. Since I've written their history in several of my past reviews, I'll spare you from the long version. Here's a very abridged version - Rush (for argument sake) was officially formed in 1974. After their first album, they replaced their drummer with Neil Peart, their present..

Chronicles--Is Rush the Greatest Power Trio Ever??
Review created: 04/26/00
by: SniperHockey -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
good track selection highlighting at least one song from every album

Cons:
there is always room for other songs worthy of greatest hits status

For those of you just starting to explore the progressive rock genre, or simply have a mild interest in Rush, then "Chronicles" is the right best of compilation for you. I guess I would consider myself to be more than just a mild Rush fan, but this double disc best of album highlights their best work, so I don't need to run out and get all their other albums--yet. Released in 1990, "Chronicles" contains all of their early material through "Presto." However, the power trio released three studio albums to date after this release. Rush started out with a heavy sound, reminiscent of other power...
