We just saw this movie a couple days ago and I thought it was a great movie all around. Johnny Depp stars as Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore played Charlie Bucket. Both you might have seen in Finding Neverland. All the actors do a wonderful job bringing this story alive. Five golden tickets to five luck (or maybe not so lucky...) children. There are a lot more family elements in this movie than in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. You see more of what Charlie's father is like. You also get more of a background about how Willy Wonka came to be the way he is. Another great thing is all the Oompa Loompas are played by one man (played by Deep Roy). There are tons of funny parts in this movie that you can't help but laugh out loud! I think this is a great must see family movie!

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton team up again in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - a hilarious and wildly visual remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Just like any other Tim Burton movie, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory is fantastic to watch - great color, production and direction. And just like any other Johnny Depp movie, its very well acted.
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton got rave reviews for the movie which drove strong box office success nationally and abroad. Kids and parents alike will enjoy the movie - for different reasons. Either way, its a very fun and different twist on a classic movie... and I'm always up for a Depp / Burton combination:

Entertaining Movie for the FamilyMy daughter had to have this movie. We have the original Willy Wonka movie, so this was a great addition to our collection of DVDs. This modernized version of the classic is a good conversation starter with your children as it prompts lots of questions and is thought-provoking. Colorful, musical and entertaining.

Maybe it is just because I saw the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory first that this was not as appealing. I thought the effects of the movie were great, especially the glass elevator. Some of the lines are so close to the original and that is annoying, for me atleast.

I liked this movie because it was a nice modern spin from the original. Johnny Depp has plenty of character and he fits the role great. I bought the movie because I collect the memorabilia cards and enjoyed the original so it has its place in my movie collection.

I like buying off of ebay because it is cheaper than other stores and you are told what condition it is in before you buy it. The movie was in it's case and had no wear or tear. My kids love the movie! They have wanted it for awhile now so I decided to buy it and we are all more than satisfied.

When you go movie shopping this is a great choice for an audience craving a mysterious story and humor. The story line is superb and is an excellent release. I definately bought this expecting the magic of the original. I surely was wrong and miss the classic. This remake seens more dark and less cheery.

Johnny DeppI bought this movie because I am a Johnny Depp fan.Also seeing the original in the theatre over 30 years ago made me want to see this one which is closer to the actual book than the first one.I was not impressed as only 1 person was used for the Oompaloopas more should have been used.
The only redeeming quality was you got a glimpse into why Willie Wonka became the recluse he was.

I enjoyed the first movie but this remake was aweful. I expected more! The movie didn't hold a candle to the first one ever made! The original charley bucket and willie wonka can't be replaced.

why I bought Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryI bought it for two reasons, one, I bought it for my son and 2, I love Johnny Depp and I am collecting all of his movies. I purchase it on ebay because it is cheaper, and I really enjoy shopping on ebay. I really like this movie, It was funny, quirky, and strange.

I bought this for my 12 year old daughter for Christmas. She has watched it about 10 times in a little more than 2 weeks. It has some of the fun of the original "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and adds a big name that kids recognise. I thought the Willy Wonka in this version was a little too dark and odd. I still prefer the original because it was more fun, but this was very good for a remake.

EnjoyableWe loved Johnny Depp's outrageous perforance in this movie. The umpalompas were full of energy and the colors were amazing. The actors playing Charlie and Grandpa were so much better than the first version of this movie. We also enjoyed Grandma Georgina's entertaining "simple minded" act.

If you loved the original or never even saw it this movie will not disappoint. It is so over the top and goffy everyone from 2-60 should get a giggle. C'mon any movie that sings and dances while using the word NINCOMPOOP is worth the watch!

This is an excellent movie. So different from the original movie I saw as a child. Johnny Depp is great as Willy Wonka and the rest of the cast also do a phenomenal job in the movie! If you have kids, it is definitly a must see.

First, I have to go on record as saying that I'll nearly anything with Johnny Depp in it. Even so, this didn't keep my kids exactly entertained. They kept saying, "This is creepy" and things like that. I enjoyed watching Depp, however, and his very different interpretation of his role compared to the one Gene Wilder played. This isn't light and sunny, true, but it is defnitely creative and worth viewing. Depp remains an actor worth watching, making moments of true magic in nearly every film he is in, from Edward Scissorhands to Pirates of the Caribbean.
