I did not see the movie, my son in Iraq requested it. He received it but has not told me about it.I'm sure after he reviews the movie he will email me with his opinion. Thank you
Wonderful movie. Fast paced plot line. I liked the idea of countries that are normally enemies, come together for a humanitarian effort. It also shows the bad politics we have here in the USA. Definately time for Americans to get involved in voting out the corupt politician and decrese government abuse.
Normally I don't buy movies but this one needs to be seen at least twice to really appreciate everything that goes on. A very entertaining movie. Regardless of your policital association I think everyone can enjoy this one!!!!
Hi, I am sorry that I am not able to write a review of this product as I never recieved it from furniturelandinc. This is the second time I have experenced this from furniturelandinc. I have copy's of 15 emails trying to fix this. I know this is not the forum to air these issues but feel at a loss to do anything else. I did not leave negative feed back because furniturelandinc simply will do the same to me. Furniturelandinc gets a good deal of pleasure destroying feedback that is 100% and it seems odd to me that ebay allows seller's to remove buyers. It is like standing in front of a store and not being allowed to enter. More than willing to discuss this with anyone interested. Jim
THIS MOVIE IS ACTUALLY A DOCUMENTARY; THIS REALLY HAPPENED. IT IS A LITTLE SOBERING IN THAT IT SHOWS HOW AN INDIVIDUAL WITH MONEY "CAN" TURN THE DIRECTION OF THE UNITED STATES, WITH ACTUALLY VERY LITTLE EFFORT.
I AM NOT POLITICAL IN THE VIEW OF THIS MOVIE. I DON'T SAY WHAT WAS DONE WAS RIGHT OR WRONG. HISTORY (IN THE FUTURE) WILL EVENTUALLY VIEW IT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.
THIS MOVIE MOVES ALONG VERY FAST, AND IS, IN MY OPINION, VERY DRAMATIC, AND EXTREMELY WELL DONE. I GIVE IT A TEN. I WATCHED IT TWICE (SO FAR); IT'S THAT GOOD. AND NOW I HAVE BOUGHT THE DVD. IT'S ONE OF THOSE MOVIES YOU SEE, AND THEN YOU PONDER THE WORLD EVENTS AS THE UNFOLDED, AND YOU KEEP GOING BACK TO THE FACT THAT THE DIRECTION OF OUR COUNTRY WAS RE-DIRECTED BY ONE INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN (NOT A GROUP OF PEOPLE, NOT A MOVEMENT; ONE PERSON), AND MILLIONS, PERHAPS BILLIONS OF AMERICAN DOLLARS WERE RE-DIRECTED FOR THIS CAUSE OF ONE INDIVIDUAL. AGAIN, I AM NOT SAYING IT WAS RIGHT OR WRONG. BUT THAT RE-DIRECTION AFFECTS ALL OF US AMERICANS. IT AFFECTS US TODAY, AND WILL BE AN AFFECT ON OUR LIVES FOR YEARS TO COME. IT AFFECTS HOW OTHER COUNTRIES VIEW US AS AMERICANS. IT AFFECTS THEIR VIEW OF US WHEN WE TRAVEL TO THEIR COUNTRIES. AND ULTIMATELY IT MAY HAVE PLAYED A PART IN EITHER DELAYING OR SPEEDING UP THE EVENTUAL WORLD WAR III (WRITER'S EDITORIAL OPINION).
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH "ONE VOTE COUNTS". IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH HOW ONE PERSON CAN INFLUENCE THE AMERICAN ARMED FORCES. IT IS AMAZING, IN MY OPINION.
THIS MOVIE IS GOOD FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE TRULY ENTERTAINED FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF OR SO. AND IT IS ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR THOSE WHO CARE ABOUT THE SURVIVAL OF AMERICA, AND HAVE A CONCERN FOR THE WORLD AS A WHOLE. IT STRIKING IN THAT IT REALLY HAPPENED AND WE ARE TODAY, STILL LIVING WITH THAT REDIRECTION OF OUR MILITARY (AND THE DOLLARS THAT GO WITH THAT RE-DIRECTION). STRIKING !!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE FOR ANY AMERICAN THAT LOVES HIS/HER COUNTRY.
In one of the better movies of the year, Tom Hanks stars as Congressman Charlie Wilson in this sardonically funny and extremely relevant (given reasonably current events) historical comedy-drama surrounding the 1980s Afghan/Soviet fiasco. The Soviets were attacking Afghanistan killing hundreds of people. Why should anyone care? People are dying, right? No, the reason the United States got involved through Charlie Wilson was because the Afghans, in fear they would get blown to sh_t, started illegally coming into Pakistan which in turn p_ssed Pakistani President Mohammad Zia ul-Haq off. Charlie Wilson in an effort to fix this situation teamed up with the sixth richest woman and religious fanatic in Texas, Joanne Herring (Julia Roberts) and a amusing and robust American spy for the CIA, Gust Avrakotos (Philip Seymour Hoffman) to help supply Afghans with high-tech weapons to destroy Soviet fight air-craft that would try and attack their land.
Although certainly not a serious Oscar contender for Best Picture, 'Charlie Wilson's War' is probably one of the best of the many political films of the year. Academy Award Winner Mike Nichols provides solid directing as to be expected while Emmy Award Winner Aaron Sorkin (Sport's Night, The West Wing) provides a remarkable screenplay that near-flawlessly balances comedy and drama. The acting is great for the most part as well. Tom Hanks delivers his best and most enjoyable performance since his 2000 Oscar-nominated turn as a FedEx worker stranded on a tropical island in 'Cast Away'. Hanks takes a slimy character like Wilson and with his trademark charm turns him into a likable guy. Amy Adams and Ned Beatty are reliable as always, but the real stand-out performance of the film is from Philip Seymour Hoffman. Arguably the finest actor working in the film industry today, Hoffman takes a small supporting role and upstages everyone around him. From his first scene where he's screaming at his boss before violently breaking his window, Hoffman sucks you in. The only disappointing cast member is unsurprisingly overrated Hollywood starlet Julia Roberts. Hamming her way through yet another movie, Roberts' overbearing and over-the-top portrayal of a rich Texas oil woman hits all the wrong notes and is at most times flat-out annoying. At 97 minutes, the movie is short and sweet, and that isn't to say it doesn't drag at some points but when it does drag it's for a very brief amount of time.
