After watching the Broadway Across America production of CATS, we were sold on the music. Immediately went searching for the CD on Ebay. While listening to the cd we could visualize the on stage production even though the cd was the Broadway version. After one play through you will find your self singing lyrics and humming along. It is very "contagious" since the songs seem to cling to you. So good, considering going back for seconds in San Antonio. This is the second cd of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals purchased.
I just adore this CD. It's so emotional and passionate! I never tire of it. My 6 year old is starting to be intrigued by my music and this is also one of her faves - (Jenny Any Dots!). A true must-have.

Good abridgement - but ruined by packaging

Pros: Well-chosen selection, high-quality music
Cons: Poor packaging
This hour-long Cats album is an abridged version of the original Broadway cast recording. All the major songs are included and there are many enjoyable moments. "Jellicle Ball" is presented in a lively performance from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and "Memory" is here presented in the standard lyrics, in a yearningly beautiful performance by Betty Buckley. It is also good to see Ken Page as Old Deuteronomy, Timothy Scott as Mr. Mistoffelees, and Terrence Mann as Rum Tum Tugger. However, this single-disc abridgement has one major shortcoming. The packaging is very disappointing, with only.
