This is one of Tom Hanks best films yet! I certainly enjoyed it.
Tom Hanks plays a play called Chuck Noland who works for Federal Express, who's always on the go at a moment's notice. He's called away for business on Christmas night and his girlfriend and he have Christmas in their car. When he leaves the car the last thing he says to her is that he'll be right back. Well that doesn't happen. The plane ends up in an unexpected storm, they lose radio contact, they go off course and it crashes. Chuck is the sole survivor of the crash, and washes ashore of a deserted island. While stranded there, he must learn how to survive in the wilderness by himself.

Pros: the cast
Cons: the ending
After being stuck here in Arkansas by the wonderful ice storm that was dropped on us, Brandon and I went to the movies last night to see CAST AWAY. I had been looking forward to seeing this movie for quite sometime and this movie was not at all what I expected it to be. I can t exactly put into words what I was expecting but this movie left me in awe. To be quite honest I am not a big TOM HANKS fan, but after this movie he does have more respect from me than he had in the past. The cast was a small one to say the least and in my opinion the characters were excellent. The Main Cast: Tom Hanks..

Pros: Tom Hanks. Some island bits. Lots of it is pretty.
Cons: Screenplay. That it thinks it's a movie.
A certain professor once told me that purposeful symbolism is at best insulting, and at worst just plain stupid, but it s ineffectual either way. I don t think I ever really got the full force of his idea until I watched Cast Away , a movie so filled to bursting with what it thinks are clever signs, symbols, and metaphors, that it shoves down your throat, it is simply impossible to take seriously. It s also a movie without the slightest respect for the intelligence of its audience (notice if you will that the trailers told you absolutely everything there was to know, and made seeing the film..

Pros: Hanks, Hunt, thinking movie
Cons: long, a few boring parts
I wasn t too sure about watching this movie because I had heard that it was pretty boring, but I took the chance anyway and rented it from Netflix. Sitting down with a friend one night, I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. Yes, there were times that the movie lagged and it got boring, but it wasn t unbearable. It actually made you think about your life and what is important to you. MAIN CHARACTERS Tom Hanks... Chuck Noland Helen Hunt... Kelly Frears Wilson Volleyball... Wilson Nick Searcy... Stan Chris North... Jerry Lovett Lari White... Bettina Peterson Geoffrey Blake... Maynard...

Daydreaming for the Imagination-Impaired

Pros: Tom Hanks' plane crashes.<BR/>
Cons: Tom Hanks survives.
I simply don't understand you people. Weren't you ever dragged to church by your parents? Made to sit through an awards ceremony at your school? Forced to watch your father emcee a fundraiser? Obliged to endure your little sister's piano recital? Tortured by the repetitive lectures of an inept teacher? And what on earth do you folks do in such situations? Have you discovered how to nap with your eyes open? Is that why you don't know how to daydream without the assistance of a formulaic novel or a schmaltzy movie? I couldn't even begin to count the hours of my life that I've spent thinking...

Pros: Acting just doesn't get much better.
Cons: None
It is rare to see acting of this caliber. Tom Hanks has become such a great actor over the years! He just keeps getting better with each new movie. From movies like BIG
