Nice little Camera

I was shopping for a new digital camera and stopped into our local Radio Shack to do some touch and feel. Of all the cameras on display, this little gem caught my attention. The display screen was just the right size. The camera size was small but easily handled. This was definitely my next digital camera. I went home and jumped on the web to do my research. I read lots of "fair" reviews on image quality and fumble fingered horrors but all-in-all, good reviews. I hopped to eBay and got a great purchase price from a seller out of Canada. When the camera arrived, it was exactly what I was looking for. The menu system is easy to navigate. There are lots of image resolution choices from VGA (eBay photos) to high end printing solutions. Nearly all manual settings are there if you want to experiment. I enjoy the quick startup. Within about 2 seconds, you are ready to shoot. There is a good variety of unique camera sounds to use. The startup screen can have one of your favorite pictures displayed, use the Exilim display, or have nothing displayed except what is coming through the lens. The quality of the pictures is good. With my previous digital camera, I had to use the Auto Smart Fix feature in Photoshop Elements nearly everytime to get reasonable picture quality. The pictures from this little guy look worse when I try the Auto Smart Fix features. Figure that one out all those people who said the image quality was not so good on this camera. This is not a digital SLR costing $1000's of dollars, but then again, for a quick aim and shoot digital with extras, it performs pretty good. The docking system works great. The flash recovery time is a little longer than I like but tolerable. The macro features create a pleasant product and are simple to use. I am not one for using the Best Shot modes on digital cameras, but this one has some good ones. I took some fireworks photos over the 4th of July using the fireworks Best Shot feature. The pictures were amazing. I sent some to my local newspaper and they thought I was using one of those expensive cameras I mentioned above. When I showed them the camera, they couldn't believe it. I do suggest before you buy one, find a counter display model and hold it first. It is small. This camera is not ment for a person with large hands. I also suggest you always use the wrist strap as intented. One other issue, you will need to buy some additional memory. I suggest 1 GB size minimum, but when you do, be sure to get a memory card that advertises data speeds exceeding 10 MB per second. Those cheap slow/standard memory cards will not allow HD quality video to be taken and yes this camera takes video with sound in length up to the size of the available memory. The video still works fine with slower memory cards, but the video quality will not be what you may expect. I do not have anything negative to say about this camera. You will not go wrong with this little guy.
