Caps for Sale, written and illustrated by Esphyr Slobodkina, is a classic book and is rated for ages 4-8. This book was first published in 1938. It is 40 pages long. I loved this book as a child. As an adult, I am still enjoying it while I read it to my 4 year old daughter. The Story There is a peddler who sells caps for 50 cents each. He carries all of the caps, stacked one upon the other, on top of his head. One day, he takes a rest under a tree. While he is sleeping, 16 monkeys steal 16 caps and put them on their heads. The peddler tries to get the caps back, without success. He shakes his.
