The BEST Camera for the PRICE!!

I had been an avid owner of the point-and-shoot high-megapixel cameras for years, and when my last one was dropped and shattered (like a piece of high-priced junk), I went on a mission to find an indestructible camera.
Nikon cameras are generally more popular, because for whatever reason, their name is more well-known (I know, than Canon?!?!?). Canon DSLR cameras are smaller, more light-weight, have a much better (larger and better quality) selection of lenses and equipment, and generally work better (better quality materials.
I purchased my first Canon 300D in 2005 and was astonished at the size and quality of picture I could take with it!! It, at only 6.3 megapixels, takes not-even-comparable better quality pictures than even the best-of-the-best point and shoots.
This camera is great because it is: 1. light-weight (among comparable products), 2. easy to grip/hold, 3. can be dropped, drug around by a child, or other horrible things without being damaged (I know this for a fact), 4. Canon has a wonderful warranty program, and 4. it takes both EF and EF-S lenses. I could actually gush on forever about how wonderful this lens is...
The only bad thing I've ever thought about this camera is, that if this camera is this wonderful, then how much MORE WONDERFUL would the newer XT or XTi or the professional line cameras be??? It keeps me wanting more.
I've finally let go of all of my cheapie lenses to invest in a couple of great ones and I couldn't be more pleased! This camera takes phenomenal pictures for a new camera student, an amateur, or a pro-to-be. It comes at a great price too: you can find them for almost half the price of the newer ones. I paid under $500 for mine NEW, at a nation-wide retailer, and was able to buy an extended warranty that doesn't expire until 2010 (remember I bought the camera in 2005). It doesn't get much better than that- especially when the cost of the warranty was not much more than $100.
I guess what it comes down to is that you can spend $200, 300 or 400 on what you think is a great point and shoot, and it will never be anything more. For the same price (or not much more) you can buy a DSLR camera kit like mine (lens included) and you'd never go back! And you have the options of lenses, filter, flashes, everything that doesn't really work with the point & shoot cameras. So there is no comparison. And my pics (with my new lenses) are just as good of quality as those of the newer XT and XTi's, so it really is the best deal for the price!!
