Love Steve McQueen. Love the movie the first time I saw it. So glad I could find the DVD in such good quality. My 18 yr old son loves it too. Mainly for him.

BULLITT: Bullitt really knows his bullsh*t!
Review created: 11/23/04

Pros:
Realism, tight editing, the way the story unfolds

Cons:
Not a hell lot

This may not be uncommon for a guy like me to say this, but I have a guilty pleasure for cop films. I have always pictured myself as being the macho cop that takes no bull from anyone and just goes about doing the job in as cool a manner as possible. Thus, films like The French Connection and Dirty Harry has always been near the top of my list of films. However, I had heard a lot about Bullitt being a good cop film. All I had really heard about was the famous car chase scene and that was it. I always tried to look out for it, but never did find it. Until now, that is. Set in San Francisco,...

Pros:
Great car chase

Cons:
Story hard to follow, Bisset ignored

I added Bullitt to my Netflix queue just so that I could see the famous car chase scene I'd heard so much about. I had to sit through over an hour of the movie before it happened, but it was pretty cool. I can appreciate how back in the late 1960's, a car chase was a real car chase and there was no CGI or any of that mess. While by today's standards it might not compare to something out of The Fast and the Furious, it is still a sight to see. Bullitt is your basic cop drama about a Dirty Harry type who gets involved in a plot involving the mob and a dirty politician. The plot itself isn't all.

The Ultimate in Intelligent Cop Cool: Steve McQueen as Bullitt
Review created: 08/10/06
by: virtuelle2 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
McQueen perfect, fine acting, riveting thriller, layered plot, exciting chase scenes, authenticity, subtle details, music.

Cons:
Slightly confusing plot structure, decorative and underused Bisset, minor continuity lapse.

Nearly forty years after its theatrical release, I ve finally seen Bullitt (1968), especially famous for Steve McQueen burning rubber on the streets of San Francisco. Well, I just couldn t agree more with most everyone s fulsome praise of the film and not just for those exciting car chase scenes! There s so much more to Bullitt than a simple cop thriller. The Robert L Fish novel on which the film was based was turned into a riveting screenplay by Alan Trustman. In the plot, whose layered structure might confuse at first, San Francisco s Police Lt Frank Bullitt (Steve McQueen) has been...

Pros:
Steve McQueen. The car chase still works.

Cons:
Period style film making.

I woke up this morning prepared for another day of exquisite languor in my boudoir, waiting for my fractured femur to finish mending. The morning sun felt warm against my skin, protected by PABA Free Lesterene brand Lime in the Coconut oil sunscreen, as I looked forward to a breakfast tray. Doreen, my poor white trash relative and current caregiver did eventually show up with a bowl of Fruit Loops and a glass of Tang, better than the grits she's been foisting off on my recently, and then disappeared back downstairs. Her husband, Herbert, has departed again in that tin box with a motor they...

Steve McQueen the quintessence of cool in Bullitt,
Review created: 02/15/03
by: jeff_wilder78 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
One of the best action thrillers I've ever seen.

Cons:
Slow in some spots.

A while back my father and I were having a discussion of what defines cool. We dismissed many of the stars of today that are considered cool (Vin Diesel Fuel) and agreed that the quintessence of cool character in the world of film is definitely Steve McQueen's title character in Bullitt. His character is the type who can walk away from a car chase scene and still be able to tell off the bureaucrat who is constantly on his case. McQueen plays San Francisco police Lieutenant Frank Bullitt. As the film begins, he is introduced to aforementioned bureaucrat Walter Chalmers (Robert Vaughn) a...
